Doomworld Omega Project 2018 is a collaborative mapset for Doom II and GZDoom source port, to which anyone could have submitted their map, regardless of mapping skill. The project was initially led by scifista42 until his disappearance. The compilation of separate levels into a single PK3 archive was done by Voltcom9. The project started on January 10, 2018[1] and the first version was published on January 10, 2019.[2] After some tune-ups the WAD was uploaded to the /idgames archive on June 20, 2021. A sequel, Doomworld Omega Project 2019, was compiled next year.

Background[edit]
When TimeOfDeath started Doomworld Mega Project 2018 he introduced more restrictive rules, compared to previous installments. One of them was the prohibition of ZDoom format, due to demo compatibility issues (rules required each mapper to create a demo of them finishing their map). This caused discontent amongst some of the Doomworld forums members. As a result scifista42 organised an alternative project called Doomworld Omega Project 2018 where levels in every format were accepted.
Rules[edit]
Doomworld Omega Project 2018 had the following rules:
- one level per person;
- a level should be made for Doom II IWAD;
- any map format and every source port was permitted;
- a level could be of any quality, but abusive/malicious content was prohibited;
- a level should be finishable in single player mode;
- a level was supposed to support 4-player cooperative mode;
- boss death actions or other hard-coded effects for map slots were prohibited;
- custom music of any format was allowed;
- custom resources were allowed as long as they did not replace IWAD content.
