Doomworld Speedmapping Compilation

From DoomWiki.org

The Doomworld Speedmapping Compilation was a series of speedmapping events sporadically hosted on Doomworld from 2001 to 2010, and led by community members such as Nick Baker (NiGHTMARE) and Owen Lloyd (Sarge Baldy). The Doomworld Speedmapping Compilation series is considered to be the first official public speedmapping event by the community. While other projects had been made indirectly under speedmapping rules, this was the first time a series of events were held with the time limit rules into consideration as the main characteristic.

The project was created with the intention of helping authors overcome mapper's block and to perfect their editing skills. Participants had a total of 100 minutes to create their maps. Typically, levels were created for Doom II and a project leader would choose a visual theme to implement. Sessions took place every Saturday at 19:00 GMT.

A total of 23 sessions were completed.
