E1M8 is the second and final map of The True Test. It was designed by Anthony Klein (Frobozz) and uses a MIDI rendition of the music track "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" by Metallica.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Head towards the north-eastern corner of the outdoor area near the yellow key. A lift lowers, allowing access to the ledge. There is a dark room at the south-western end of this ledge containing 12 shotgun guys (nine of easy skill), a backpack, two energy cell packs, and a switch. (sector 73)
  2. Entering the room with the yellow keys pointed in an arrow opens up a door near the teleporter landing for this area, leading to a BFG9000 (hard skill only) and a switch. (sector 225)
  3. After teleporting into the area resembling part of Mt. Erebus, there is a secret door on the north-eastern wall (marked with a candle) leading to an armor. You will drop down, allowing access to a passage leading to an energy cell pack. There is a secret door here to the south-east leading to a soul sphere. (sector 249)
  4. Approaching #3 alerts a baron of Hell outside which will eventually open the door to this area - there is a plasma rifle here. (sector 247)
  5. The switch in #3 is actually a red door - if the switches in #1 and #2 have been pressed, opening this door will allow access to a teleporter to a room with six stimpacks, a megaarmor, a chainsaw, a chaingun, a rocket launcher, five boxes of bullets, four boxes of shotgun shells, two boxes of rockets, and an energy cell. Bugs[edit]

It is very difficult to achieve 100% kills on easy and medium skills, as you will almost certainly die in the final room before being able to kill the spiderdemon. On hard skill there is a BFG9000, so 100% kills is possible.
