E1M9: Atomsmasher is the ninth and secret map in the Dead Colliding episode of ConC.E.R.Ned. It was designed by Matt Powell (cannonball) and uses the music track "Lunar Outpost" from Descent.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

Kill the shotgun guys visible through the window on your right, then walk between the train seats and go through the door on your right to step on to the train platform. Go up the steps to reach a shotgun, chaingun, backpack and box of bullets then turn right to kill some approaching imps before going up a staircase to a door leading to a rocket launcher, a megaarmor and a partial invisibility. Behind the next door is a circular corridor that leads to all three keys; you should collect all of them before entering the center area, but they can be collected in any order.

Open the door and clear out any lost souls and shotgun guys you can see, then turn right (west) and follow the corridor anti-clockwise until you reach its west side. The door on your right leads to a square chamber containing shotgun guys along with a demon (or baron of Hell on Ultra-Violence and Nightmare skill levels); go up the steps to a switch and flip it to lower a pillar holding the yellow keycard, as well as opening four alcoves containing spectres, lost souls and cacodemons. Take the yellow key then return to the circular corridor and continue on to the south side, again opening the door on your right to enter a square chamber where four zombiemen are guarding the red keycard - picking it up will open two closets containing imps and one or two barons. Go back to the circular corridor and head round to the east side, then open the right-hand door to confront some shotgun guys and a spectre in an octagonal room; flip the switch between the north crates to open a closet behind you with more enemies and a second switch, which will open a column containing the blue keycard as well as releasing one or two barons.

With all three keys, return to the circular corridor and open any of the doors leading to the center area, which contains a quantity of zombies and demons as well as cacodemons. Step over the nukage to reach the brown structure in the middle of the area, then open all three locked doors to find a plasma gun and armor in front of a switch. Flip the switch and get ready to fight a crowd of imps, spectres and barons that teleport in, then return to the red key room to find that the exit door has opened revealing four shotgun guys and a baron protecting the exit switch.

  1. Leave the train then walk round to its north side to find an alcove containing a supercharge. (sector 82)
  2. In the blue key room, open the south-east wall to get medikits, a box of rockets and an energy cell pack. (sector 289)
