This level occupies the map slot E2M10. For other maps which occupy this slot, see Category:E2M10.

E2M10: Frog.wad is the tenth and super secret map in the Gateway to Jigoku episode of 2022 A Doom Odyssey. It was designed by Paul Corfiatis and uses the music track "Into a Sandy City" by Peter Lawrence, from TNT: Evilution MIDI Pack.

The map is reached from a non-official secret on E2M9. When exited, this map proceeds to E2M6. When viewed on the automap, the map draws the shape of a frog, with the floor texture coloring chosen to match.

Walkthrough[edit]

Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.

Essentials[edit]

The map has a single large, open area (the frog's body), with a few nooks and crannies at the edges (the frog's legs). You start in the south-west corner. Shotgun and chaingun pickups are given here. The exit is in a neighboring chamber to your immediate right (north-east), but to open the door you need to collect all three colored skull keys:

  • Yellow skull key, in the north-west corner (the frog's rear left thigh)
  • Red skull key, in the south-east corner (the northern toe of the frog's front right foot)
  • Blue skull key, in the north-east corner (the frog's lip)

Aside from the monsters, there are no barriers to the keys, and they can be collected in any order. A cyberdemon is placed at the center of the map. Once it wakes, it can roam freely around almost the entire map; this is the biggest single threat. A large assortment all other monsters (excepting the spiderdemon) is sprinkled throughout the map, along with small ammo pickups. Several minor nukage pools are present, but all except one can be walked out of, and the one deep pit has teleporters. Various partial walls provide cover.

Other points of interest[edit]

  • Blue armor can be found in the south-east corner (in the middle toe of the frog's front right foot).
  • A rocket launcher can be found at the east edge, halfway up, in the southern toe of the frog's front left foot.
  • A berserk pack can be found in the crates stacked at the south-west of the central walls.
  • An energy cell pack can be found in the crates stacked at the south-east of the central walls.
  • A box of rockets be found in the crates stacked at the north-west of the central walls.

Secrets[edit]

  1. At the cheek of the frog (north-east), you will find three red teleporters, in a nukage pit. Enter the south teleporter to reach a backpack, medikits, energy cells, and a plasma gun. (sector 14)
  2. From the same pit as secert #1, enter the west teleport to reach an invulnerability and two soul spheres. (sector 26)
