E2M1: E4M1 - Excavation is the first map in the second episode of Switcheroom. It was designed by Travers Dunne (traversd) and is based on the layout of E4M1: Hell Beneath. The par time defined in MAPINFO is 1:30.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

Head north into a room with a damaging blood pool, then go round to the north side of the room and push past some zombiemen to reach a switch. Flip the switch to open the tunnel on the east side of the room, kill some more zombies that teleport in then go through the tunnel to reach the east side of the map. Drop into the marble structure in the center of this room to get an armor, then go north up some steps and west to the red keycard. Approaching the key will reveal two lost souls (or a cacodemon on Ultra-Violence (UV) and Nightmare (NM) skill levels), and allow one to three imps to teleport in nearby.

Climb the steps near the red key to jump back down to the surrounding walkway, then go back to the starting area and open the red door in the west wall. Head round the blood in this room to find the blue keycard, take it then head back to the eastern area and follow the walkway round to its north side to find a teleporter. Enter the teleporter to go to the ledge behind you, then head south to the exit door and open it to find the exit button, which is guarded by a lost soul on Hurt Me Plenty and a cacodemon and UV and NM.

Secrets[edit]

  1. After flipping the switch in the central area, head north-east through the blood in this area. In the next area, enter the teleporter from the north side. When you teleport, get the computer area map to the west. (sector 51)
  2. After getting the blue key, return to the teleporter mentioned in secret #1 and enter it from the south side, then head east to a megaarmor. (sector 36)
  3. After getting the blue key, return to the central room and head to the north-west end, where there is a new switch. Flip it, then return to the blue key room to get the plasma gun to the west. (sector 134)
