E2M1: Hell's Effect is the first map in the City of Dissidents episode of The Joy of Mapping 4: Summer School. It was designed by UAC-Janitor and uses the music track "Junkie Smack," originally composed by Mark Klem for Memento Mori II. The par time defined in MAPINFO is 30 seconds.

- At the door to the main building, hop into the blood nearby and find the switch at the bottom of the east wall. This lowers two walls to the west. Ride either of them up, cross the bridge going east, then head south to get a chaingun and boxes of ammo. (sector 87)
