Walkthrough[edit]

Map of Sector 0
Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.

Essentials[edit]

Turn left (west) and go through the door ahead of you to enter a maze of blue passages, then head straight forwards to a zombieman before turning right to find some health bonuses. Turn left and left again and you will see an opening in the left-hand wall containing a skull switch that you need to press to reach the blue keycard. Kill the two zombiemen and one imp (or demon on Hurt Me Plenty (HMP) skill level or higher) that are revealed behind you, then backtrack to the entrance door and head north before going left or right up some steps to an area with a tan floor. From here you can head north to enter a room with the blue key - when you take it, the wall ahead will lower to reveal three demons that will teleport behind you.

Backtrack to the entrance door and head south to a door requiring the blue key, open it and go forward to an octagonal chamber. When you step into the middle of the chamber three sets of bars blocking the exits will lower for a few moments - go through the south bars to find a demon guarding a fake exit door, open it and press the eye switch to lower a lift leading up to a room with a cacodemon guarding a skull switch. Press the skull switch, which will raise a bridge to the real exit, then head north-east into a tan passage containing some monsters that you can kill using the nearby barrels. Head down the steps to a door that will open as you approach, revealing the red keycard - do not stand on its plinth for too long or you will be hurt by a crushing ceiling.

Follow the red passage in front of you past some lost souls to an area with several moving platforms, which you can follow south-west past some imps to a red key door. Go through it and you will come out by the fake exit door - press the eye switch behind it again to lower the bars behind you, then return to the octagonal chamber and head west into another red passage. There is a narrow tunnel on your right containing one or two imps - enter this tunnel to find a baron of Hell and one or two cacodemons guarding a bridge leading to the real exit door. Cross the bridge and open the door, kill the zombieman (or imp on Ultra-Violence and Nightmare skill levels) waiting behind it then flip the switch on your right to finish the level.

Other points of interest[edit]

From the start, head into the neighboring room to the east and follow the path round to find a baron (which will teleport to the starting room) guarding a door. Behind the door is a rocket launcher in a lava pool that will inflict 20% damage per second.

Head south-west from the blue key room and you will see a skull switch next to some steps. Press the switch to open it and reveal a lift holding a radiation shielding suit, which will take you down to a maze of nukage tunnels. Take the chainsaw on your left then head west, north and east into a small chamber with three armor bonuses and a button. Press the button then head west, south and west through a now-open wall to more armor bonuses, south past a demon (or spectre on HMP or higher) then east and south to a room with a second demon/spectre. Look at the east wall and press the section between the metal strips to find a supercharge and a teleporter.

The teleporter in the nukage maze will send you to a large blue room near the blue key, containing a chaingun and three boxes of bullets in front of a skull switch. Approaching the switch will open three closets and release a large number of monsters into the room - press the switch then enter the east closet to find a second skull switch that will lower the floor, allowing you to escape.

There are two teleporters in the blood pool by the real exit door; step into the west teleporter and you will be sent to an area with many barrels and lost souls. Take the armor bonuses in front of you and blow up the barrels ahead to find a teleporter leading back to the octagonal chamber.

Drop into the blood by the real exit door and head south-east to find a short passage leading to a berserk pack.

Secrets[edit]

  1. In the hall west of the start, press on the north wall where the light flashes to find clips, a box of shotgun shells, a shotgun and a medikit. (sector 9) If you used the switch north-west of the start, quickly enter this secret and in the room to the east will be an armor.
  2. Enter the U-shaped room to the right of the start and press on the misaligned wall to the right to find a passage. Climb the steps, open the door, and use the eye switch to pick up a megaarmor. (sector 163)
  3. In the maze of nukage rooms, go to the western-most room with the pile of skulls and candles. Open the south-west wall to find a computer area map. (sector 156)
  4. In the area with blood and the real exit door, enter the south-east corridor and use the south wall to find a corridor leading to an invulnerability. (sector 266)
