Walkthrough[edit]
Essentials[edit]
Open the door and go up the steps to a shotgun at the center of a crossroads, watching out for the imps, cacodemons and lost souls that appear at the tops of the surrounding waterfalls. Go down the south staircase to enter a vine-covered hallway and follow it until you reach a door in the right-hand wall, open it and dispose of some imps and shotgun guys before approaching the switch at the back of the room; a baron of Hell will appear in front of the switch when you get close to it. Leave the room after flipping the west and head round to a large hall with some zombies, demons and cacodemons; you may wish to ignore them and go straight to the alcove in the east wall to collect the blue skull key (plus a supercharge on Hurt Me Plenty skill level or lower), as picking it up causes a spiderdemon to teleport in as well as shutting the entrances to the hall.
Kill the spiderdemon or avoid its attacks by hiding behind the columns (the megaarmor next to the eastern-most columns will help here), and once the doors open return to the crossroads and go down the east steps to a pair of blue skull bars that can now be opened. Go through to an area with a large white rock and kill the imps that appear in the surrounding water along with some zombiemen and cacodemons, then head north up some steps to a junction guarded by one or two spectres; turn left here and go into a room with two gray columns, flip the switch in the south-east corner then go into the east room where some enemies are guarding a teleporter leading to the top of the white rock, where you can collect the yellow keycard as well as a berserk pack and a partial invisibility.
Taking the key will cause a crowd of enemies, including some barons, to teleport to the ground around the white rock. Drop to the ground and head south up some square steps to a yellow key door and open it to confront one or two more barons who are guarding a gargoyle switch; pressing this will reveal a second switch that you can flip to finish the level.
Other points of interest[edit]
From the center crossroads, head north into a room with six green columns; a rocket launcher can be found at the other side of this room. You can find a second rocket launcher by going through the east door in the vine-covered hallway and stepping over a water trench.
From the room with the six columns, head west into the neighboring room and flip the switch in the north wall. When you enter the blue key hall you will find that a pillar holding a plasma gun has lowered by the west wall.
Secrets[edit]
- Head north from the crossroads and take the steps to the east, which lead up to the north-east part of the crossroads. From here you can jump west to a backpack or south to a berserk pack, both of which count as the secret, as well as the armor bonuses on the south-west waterfall which also counts as this secret. (sector 67)
- Head north from the crossroads and into a room with six skull pillars. Head west to the next room and quickly run west to the wall that opens to get a partial invisibility. (sector 209)
- In the south-west room, stand by the red warning sign in the south-east corner and look west to see a button recessed into the wall. Shoot this button to lower part of the west wall revealing a switch that you can flip; after doing so, go into the blue key hall to find that armor bonuses and a supercharge have lowered in the south-east corner. (sector 156)
- In the north-east hall, enter the room to the left and use the east side of the north column (it does not have a black triangle on it) to open a wall to the west, leading to an invulnerability, an energy cell, a box of bullets and a box of rockets. (sector 345)
