E2M3: Refinery is the second level of The Shores of Hell in Doom for Super NES. It is based on the original E2M3: Refinery, with modifications to adapt the map to the console's limitations. The authors of the original map are Tom Hall and Sandy Petersen, and it uses an S-SMP arrangement of the music track "The Demons From Adrian's Pen".
This level includes a secret exit to E2M9: Fortress of Mystery. This is because E2M5: Command Center, which includes the secret exit in the DOS version, was not ported to the Super NES.

Transparent midtextures were removed, as they are not supported by the Reality Engine.
A new section was added to the map in the final nukage-filled passageway before the exit (near a soulsphere secret) to support a secret exit to E2M9: Fortress of Mystery. This is due to E2M5: Command Center having been cut from game. This area contains some additional enemy resistance and a large amount of plasma and rocket ammo as well. This is arguably the most significant geometric change made to any of the levels for the Super Nintendo port. A switch was added in the backpack secret to open this area.
