Essentials[edit]

You begin in the outdoor area near the center of the map, which is guarded by a spiderdemon to your right. There are three metal barriers on the west side of this area, which must all be lowered to reach a switch that will lower the exit teleporter.

From the start go to the door at the south-east end and pass through it, then enter the white teleporter to the south to go to the ledge above with shotgun guys. Go north (imps will be released behind you) and east along a walkway until you go down some steps, then go south to a staircase guarded by more imps and climb it to enter an ambush by yet more imps along with lost souls. Follow the marble ledge north and east past more lost souls to another staircase, slay a cacodemon that teleports in then go down the stairs to drop into an outdoor area overlooked by a cyberdemon. Drop into the pit and climb up the stairs on the east side to get the red skull key, which will cause some cacodemons to teleport to the west side of the pit.

Use the lift on the west side of the pit to climb out then go back to the marble ledge and drop off the west side to land in the blood pool below. Flip the switch by the north-west wall to open the red bars to your right, pass through them then press the skull switch ahead to lower one of the metal barriers in the starting area. Go back there and press the skull switch behind the spiderdemon (leave this enemy alive if possible) to lower it and open a staircase, then go up the stairs and head west and north into a hallway with imps. Go to the stairs at the north end (more imps will teleport behind you) and climb up to a marble ledge with a plasma gun and the switch that lowers the second metal barrier. Watch out for imps, barons of Hell and shotgun guys that have appeared on your way back to the starting area, as well as a cyberdemon which has appeared there; if you left the spiderdemon alive then it can infight with the cyberdemon for you.

Go into the tunnel west of the starting area and follow it until you reach some shotgun guys, then drop into the lava below and grab the radiation shielding suit before continuing. Go west into the neighboring cavern and deal with some lost souls and imps, then go up the marble steps and turn left at the top to see the switch that lowers the final metal barrier, as well as opening a teleporter behind you. Use the teleporter to go back to the starting area, then press the gargoyle switch that was hidden behind the barriers to lower the exit teleporter behind you.

Other points of interest[edit]

Go up the stairs behind the spiderdemon to see an alcove ahead and enter it to get the yellow skull key. The key is used to open the yellow bars on the floor above revealing a supercharge.

On the walkway east of the starting area, drop into the blood below to get a plasma gun. Taking it causes some imps and lost souls to teleport in.

Secrets[edit]

  1. In the westernmost room with the lava, get on the red brick structure and go to the north-west corner. Press the wall to lower it and find a medikit. (sector 396)
  2. North-west of the yellow key is a high marble ledge full of imps and a gargoyle switch. Pressing this switch will reveal a compartment below holding a backpack. (sector 397)

Bugs[edit]

A teleport destination (thing 396) at the west end of the map is not flagged for Hey Not Too Rough skill level or lower, which prevents a lost soul from teleporting into the map on those skill settings.
