This level occupies the map slot E2M9. For other maps which occupy this slot, see Category:E2M9.

E2M9: E3M9 - Deimos Spaceport is the ninth and secret map in the second episode of Switcheroom. It was designed by Travers Dunne (traversd). The par time defined in MAPINFO is 2:50.

This level is based on E1M1: E3M1 - Phobos Spaceport, but replicates the theme of E3M9: Warrens, where the original exit switch is a trap and the player must find another way out.

Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.

Essentials[edit]

This level is identical to E1M1: E3M1 - Phobos Spaceport until you reach the exit switch; flipping it will lower the surrounding walls to reveal a group of imps, spectres and barons of Hell guarding a pillar holding the blue skull key. Press the lion switch on the north side of the pillar to lower the key, then head south through the nukage to return to the penultimate area, where various monsters have appeared. When you return to the eastern room, you will find that part of the staircase has collapsed into the nukage and the lift has lowered; kill the imps, cacodemons and demons that have been released, then head north into the demons' alcove and press the gargoyle switch here to raise the lift again.

Go back to the starting area, then walk through the opening in the east wall to teleport to a red ledge with a cacodemon in front of you (plus two more waiting overhead on Ultra-Violence and Nightmare skill levels). Head east to find the red skull key in an alcove, take it to reveal one to three barons along with a supercharge then go back to the starting area and go through the opening in the north-east corner to find a plasma gun and the real exit door. Open the door using the red key and flip the switch behind it to end the level.

Other points of interest[edit]

Secrets[edit]

  1. Climb the steps at the start and go to their east side. Use the button and go back to the starting point to get armor bonuses. (sector 24)
  2. Head to the armor at the west side, then use the wall with the poison sign to the east to find health bonuses and a clip. (sector 126)
  3. Head north-west from secret #2 into the nukage and you will find a megaarmor. (sector 153)
  4. Open the wall west of the false exit door to find a rocket launcher and a stimpack. (sector 157)

Bugs[edit]

A bloody mess (Thing 31) has no flags set for any of the three difficulty classes, so it does not actually appear in the level.
