E3M16: The River to Acheron is the sixteenth map in episode Doom Is Eternal of The Joy of Mapping 6: Joy Eternal. It was designed by Fletcher` and uses the music track "Fight the Logic If You Can" from Alien Vendetta, composed by Chris Laverdure (Dashiva). The par time defined in MAPINFO is 12:30.

Walkthrough

Map of The River to Acheron

Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.

Secrets

1. At the southwest part of the blood river, after opening up the southwest wall, go there and take a lift at the south end up. Head west and north to get to a berserk pack. (sector 619)
2. In the southeast cave, head west on the north ledge, then jump to the rock to the south to get a computer area map. (sector 1121)
3. At the east end, go to the east wall and find a small switch to the southeast. Flipping it lowers the west wall, which has a backpack. (sector 1100)
4. Head west from the blood hub to see a ledge high up with revenants on it. This ledge has a soul sphere. You can rocket jump from the area to the west to reach this soul sphere. (sector 127)
5. Head west on the circular path past Secret #4 until you get to the blue door. Use the south wall, take the steps down, press the switch, head south and then south through another open door, then head south again and take the teleporter at the end of this path to get a BFG9000. (sector 568)
