Essentials[edit]

Press the satyr switch in front of you to lower the bars then head up the steps - the wall at the top will lower automatically to reveal a large stone walkway over a lava pool. Head down the steps in front of you to collect a chainsaw and chaingun then turn left and go through a large doorway to an area with two marble platforms, one of which has several barons of Hell on it. Follow the walkway until it turns north and look in that direction to see a cyberdemon in front of a white teleporter, along with demons that are appearing from behind a skin wall to the east - kill or avoid the cyberdemon and step into the teleporter to reach an enclosed area near the starting point.

Kill one or two imps ahead and step on the raised brick on the floor, which will open a passage next to it. Follow the passage to a chamber with a few items and step on another raised brick by the skin wall, which will open the walls on either side and reveal zombiemen and/or shotgun guys. Go into the next room and press the skull switch between the windows to lower two columns behind you holding imps; step on either column and wait until it carries you up to another skull switch, which you can press to permanently lower the columns along with a platform holding the blue skull key. Backtrack to the white teleporter and step into it to return to the open area with the cyberdemon, then return to the starting area and head east into a third area which, like the west side, has two marble platforms with barons and a cyberdemon guarding a white teleporter that you need to step into.

After using the teleporter on the east side of the level, turn left to enter a passage with blood and follow it past two crushers to a curved door guarded by shotgun guys. Open the door and go through to a room containing imps, shotgun guys and one or two demons (which are replaced with spectres on Ultra-Violence and Nightmare skill levels), then head north-east into a passage which you can follow to find the blue key along with a berserk pack. With the blue key, backtrack to the teleporter you used to reach this area and use it to return to the east side of the level, then return to the white teleporter on the west side of the level - after stepping into it, open the door in front of you to collect the yellow skull key.

With the yellow key, return to the white teleporter on the east side of the level and step into it, then open the door in front of you to collect the red skull key. Step on the teleporter again to return to the main level then look right to see a skin wall moving up and down; when it lowers, step past it and kill any demons blocking the steps then climb up to three backpacks and a supercharge. Head north through a red key door to find some rockets; ahead of you is a lava pool with a spiderdemon behind several columns holding various items that are moving up and down. Run through the lava to collect a radiation shielding suit then use the columns as cover while you fight the spider. After it is killed, step on the marble floor it was standing on to finish the level.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Exit the starting room and fall off to the left where a dead demon corpse is. Touching it teleports you to a megaarmor. (sector 42)
  2. At the south-west end of the map, in the room with the pile of skulls and candles in the blood, enter the south-east alcove. A switch is on the north wall. Use it, then enter the hall to the north-east. At the first bend, quickly press the switch on the inner wall, which will lower the bars in front of it. You can now get a plasma gun. (sector 159)
  3. At the east side, climb the steps going west and at the turn, you will see a recessed brick on the west wall. Use it, fall off the steps to the south, then head to the south end. Directly south of the hall connecting the east and south ends, get on the lift. When it rises, you can get an invulnerability. (sector 123)
  4. At the east side, go into the area between the rising and lowering pillars with green torches. Doing this teleports you to a supercharge. (sector 165)
  5. In the exit area, go to the north-west platform with the armor. As it rises, face the west wall and jump to it, making sure to be above the red line. Past the wall you will get energy cells and a BFG9000. (sector 150)
