Walkthrough[edit]
Essentials[edit]
Take the armor to your left, open the door at the end of the hall (which has a demon behind it on Ultra-Violence and Nightmare skill levels), then go through a second door and head up to the top of the steps in the next room to see a gargoyle wall. Open this wall to find a shotgun guy guarding a supercharge and the blue skull key, then enter the teleporter behind the key to go to the lava pit below the steps. Press the pentagram wall by the south-west corner of the pool to lower a lift with a megaarmor, ride it up then open the blue door ahead and follow the hallway until you reach a red barrier. Open the door next to the barrier to enter a computer hall with some shotgun guys (plus imps and lost souls on UV and NM), then open the blue panel at the south-west end to find steps going down to a switch. Flip the switch to open a monster closet in the computer hall, enter it to find a rocket launcher and press the button here to open a door in the starting room.
Return to the lava pool and use the teleporter in the south-west corner to go back to the starting room, then enter the open tunnel to your left and go straight forward to another teleporter, which goes to the small room at the west end of the map. Go down the steps to your right and drop down a hole, then follow the passage to the red skull key before dropping back into the starting room. Go back to the red barrier you encountered earlier and open it, then follow the tunnel past some lost souls and two crushers to drop into an enclosure with a chaingun. Look at the east wall and open the section that is misaligned to reveal a flesh tunnel, go through it and open the wall at the end to enter a square chamber with a shotgun guy. Open the door here and go down the stairs, then head west at the bottom and follow the path round to a skull wall that is actually a lift. Ride the lift up and open the east wall at the top, then follow the path round to a plasma gun and the yellow skull key.
Go back to the bottom of the stairs and take the east path this time, which will lead to a dead end with a switch. Flip the switch then go back to the stairs and climb them until you reach an open doorway on the east side, then go through and step over a moving platform to reach another lift. Ride the lift up and open the door at the top to enter the T hall, collect the rocket launcher by the window, then go to the north-east end and press the button here to open the south wall, revealing a spiderdemon (on UV and NM). Open the poison wall at the south end of the hall using the yellow key, press the button on the wall ahead then go back to the hall and step through the doorway that has opened in the south-west corner. Head south to a teleporter, passing a monster closet that opens on the way, and enter it to go to a room near the blue door, then step back into the teleporter to go to the exit room. Flip the lever between the windows to open the south wall, revealing a demon and imp guarding the exit button.
Other points of interest[edit]
Secrets[edit]
- The tunnel in which the blue key is found counts as a secret. (sector 95)
- The teleporter in secret #1 is also flagged as a secret, and is thus unobtainable without the noclip cheat. (sector 97)
- The entire area in the extreme south in which the switch that releases the monsters in the computer room is found is flagged as secret. This includes each step of both stairways (16 steps in all), and the small space directly in front of the switch. (sectors 23, 24 through 38, and 177) - 17 secrets total
- After accessing the teleporter west of the start of the level, head through the northern stairs, and open the wall at the top of the stairs. You will find a long tunnel which leads to the room accessed beyond the yellow door. You may also access the tunnel from that same room, by pressing on the section of the wall in the middle of the southwest of the room. There are four secret sectors in this tunnel; the first is the elevator you land on when you access it from the northwest, which can be called down by pushing the horned faces on its east side. (sector 123)
- The space in front of secret #20 is the second secret. (sector 127)
- The third secret in the tunnel is the long stretch of space in the southeast of the tunnel. (sector 149)
- The last secret sector in that tunnel is the space directly in front of the door to the room normally reached with the yellow key. (sector 150)
- The entire area in which the yellow key is obtained is flagged as secret. This includes the elevator that leads to it, the space just after it, the door that leads into it, and the passage that leads to it, which is split into five sectors. (sectors 89, 46, 92, 90, 144, 143, 156, 145) - 8 secrets total
Bugs[edit]
Because secret #2 is unreachable without the noclip cheat, you can only get 96% secrets in this level.
100% items is not achievable in this level as there is an invulnerability (thing 444) which cannot be collected.
