E3M8: E4M8 - Abomination is the eighth and final map in the third episode of Switcheroom. It was designed by Magnusblitz and is based on the layout of E4M8: Unto The Cruel. The par time defined in MAPINFO is 30 seconds.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

Step forward to raise a staircase, open the door at the top then go straight forward to a marble walkway. Kill any waiting imps (plus demons and cacodemons on Ultra-Violence and Nightmare skill levels), then go to the door at the north end of the walkway and open it to find a baron of Hell guarding the red skull key. Now go to the door at the south end and open it, then enter the teleporter behind the door to go to a fleshy courtyard with a blood river. Kill the imps and demons in this area, climb up the steps then follow the ledges north and west to enter a small building with a chainsaw and a lift. Ride the lift down to a tunnel, then fight through some cacodemons to reach the yellow skull key at the east end.

With the yellow key, go back outside and use the teleporter to return to the marble walkway, then go to the skin column in the center and open the marble murals on its north and south sides (which require the keys) to find two eye switches. Press both switches to raise a bridge and a second staircase to the west, then climb up it and open the door at the top to enter the spiderdemon's arena. There are two staircases at the north and south ends of the arena that go up to two switches; pressing both switches will open the skin block and release the spiderdemon from inside it. The level automatically ends when the spiderdemon is killed.

Other points of interest[edit]

South of the flesh courtyard area is a lava pool with several metal pillars. You can lower the pillars to get various powerups and items.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Head north and west from the yellow key, then in the last room, go through a wall to the south to get a supercharge. (sector 182)
  2. Open a wall east of the yellow key and take the teleporter to find ammo and a plasma gun. The hall north of the teleporter is a separate secret sector. (sector 308)
  3. See secret #2. (sector 301)
  4. In the boss arena, use the south-east column to find a supercharge. (sector 292)
  5. In the boss arena, use the north-east column to find a megaarmor. (sector 293)
  6. Take the north steps in the boss arena. At the switch, press the inner corner wall to the north-east to find a medikit and a teleporter back to the marble walkway. (sector 294)
