E3M9: Barrens is the ninth and secret map in episode Abandon Hope of The Ultimate NMD. It was designed by Fiend.

Secrets[edit]
- Climb up to the northwest side, then take the left path of health and armor bonuses going south until a wall next to you lowers. Open the south wall in this compartment to get the BFG9000. (sector 83)
- At the northwest end of the map, enter the lava at the east side and enter the south corridor to find a medikit, boxes of rockets, and a rocket launcher. (sector 85)
- In the red brick area, get on the raised platform and head to the south wall. Press on the nearby switch to unlock the south wall and enter the teleporter to get a chainsaw. (sector 108)
- Shoot the wall across from Secret #3 and jump there to find a soul sphere. (sector 112)
