E3 styled

From DoomWiki.org

E3 styled, an abbreviation of Episode 3 styled, is a common expression used to describe the game play or visuals of a map relatable to the designs and principles employed in the Inferno episode of Doom. It is a specific sub-trope of the hell map style.

E3-styled game play[edit]

E3-styled game play typically adds the BFG9000 to the player's arsenal, and uses lots of damaging floors. While cyberdemons may make an appearance, they may not be common. Spiderdemons are also typically used as the boss of the episode.

E3-styled visuals[edit]

Levels using the E3-visual style incorporate hellgrowth, marble bricks, and Satanic imagery. Architecture may be entirely nonsensical, and techbase map textures may not be used at all.
