E4M2: Putrefied Docklands is the second map of Thy Flesh turned into a draft-excluder. It was designed by Matt Powell (cannonball) and uses the music track "Donna to the Rescue," originally composed by Robert Prince for Doom.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

Take the shotgun in front of you then step on to the dock and head north to a platform with the red skull key on it as well as a cyberdemon; stay on the move in this area as there is very little cover. Cross the damaging blood river to reach the dock on the east side then head up the steps and go to the south-east corner to find a skull switch between two green firesticks. Press the switch then go back to the west dock and head up the steps that have risen by the north wall, then turn left and head straight forward to find the yellow skull key sitting on a plinth.

Head back across the river and go up to the switch between the green firesticks; next to this switch is a yellow key door that you can open to reveal one or two barons of Hell, as well as monster closets to your left and right holding imps, shotgun guys and lost souls along with a third closet behind you containing cacodemons. Go through the door and collect the chaingun in front of you, use it to kill the imps and shotgun guys on the white wall to the north then head east along a wooden platform to some steps that lead into a gray tunnel. You will come to a fork in the path - take the left path and head down to a teleporter, press the gargoyle switch on the north wall to lower it then enter the teleporter to reach the red key, telefragging the cyberdemon in the process.

Go back up the steps to the yellow key area and open the red key door, kill one or two shotgun guys waiting behind it then head straight forward to a white archway. Kill the imp (or cacodemon on Ultra-Violence (UV) and Nightmare (NM) skill levels) blocking your way and start climbing the white steps to move on to E4M3: Ravine of the Damned.

Other points of interest[edit]

The monster closet south of the yellow key door contains a berserk pack.

Just before you reach the teleporter to the red key you will come to a fork in the path. The right-hand path leads to a rocket launcher, but approaching it will cause a spectre (or baron on UV and NM) to teleport behind you.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Get on the dock at the start and head north until you pass under a brick arch. Look left at this point to see a yellow flesh wall and press on it to lower it, revealing a supercharge, armor bonuses and a chaingun. (sector 115) Ride the lift in this secret up and open the skin wall in front of you to find a safer route to the yellow key.
  2. Open the yellow key door, which will also open three monster closets in your vicinity. Go across the blood river to the west side and into the closet where the cacodemons and lost souls came from. Press on the wall where the candle is to reveal a teleporter, which takes you to the platform with the plasma gun. (sector 129)
  3. On the right side of the map, climb the rocks up, then skirt along the left edge until you reach two poles with impaled skulls. Walk through the false wall here to find a medikit, a box of rockets and a switch. (sector 156)
  4. The switch from secret #3 reveals another switch back before the yellow key door, which is on the south wall. Press this one and quickly run into the blood river, going south, then north-east to reach the secret exit. (sector 184)
