E4M2: Vile Affections is the second map of Ultimate Doom the Way id Did. It was designed by Matt Cibulas (RottKing). The par time defined in the DEHACKED lump is 2:15.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

Head straight forward into a courtyard overlooked by imps and shotgun guys, then continue north until you reach a dead end with a gargoyle switch and press it to lower a lift. Ride the lift up to a hall and kill any waiting imps, then go through the door in the south-west corner and follow the path west and south to an alcove with a hanging leg. Enter the alcove to go down to a room with one to three demons, activate the lift on the west side of the room and ride it up then follow the walkway north and east to a gargoyle switch - pressing it releases imps behind you, and lowers a wall at the south end of the room revealing one or two cacodemons. Go through the south wall to enter a tall octagonal room, then look west to see one or two imps guarding a teleporter leading to the upper level of the room.

Follow the corridor south, east and north past some monsters to another teleporter, enter it then destroy the lost souls behind you before pressing the lion switch ahead - this will raise a ledge outside, allowing you to make a running jump to the blue skull key in the courtyard below. Drop to the ground and kill any shotgun guys that have been released, then go through the north doorway in the courtyard again and activate the lift ahead of you. Kill the imps that are now waiting behind the lift, then ride it up and go through the door in the south-east corner, before climbing the nearby steps to a blue door in front of you.

Go through the blue door, then follow the walkway in the next room north, east and south to find an entrance to the central building. Run up the steps in this building to jump over the lava and land in the corridor beyond. Open the door on the east side to face one or two cacodemons, then press the skull switch behind them to lower the south wall in the corridor. Go through the wall to face a spectre, which will teleport behind you, then continue south into a vine-covered room and head round to a set of steps by the west wall. Climb up the steps, then open the exit door in the south-west corner to find an imp guarding the switch for E4M3: Earth, Blood and Fire.

Secrets[edit]

  1. At the starting point, press on the skull in the south-east corner to lower a lift to the north. Ride it up and flip the switch, then head outside and north-east to get the rocket launcher. (sector 26)
  2. Take the lift at the north end of the map up, then take the door on your right. Climb the steps towards the blue door and head north, but look north-west towards the alcove with the green torch. Jump into this alcove, which will open a wall to the west. Enter and go into the next room to find armor bonuses, rockets and a berserk pack. (sector 62)
  3. At the north-east end of the map, enter the building in the center and use the stairs to jump south. Open the next door and turn around to find imps (not on Hey Not Too Rough or lower). Press on the north-west corner in this closet to find a passage leading to a supercharge and a switch. (sector 115)
  4. After using the switch in secret #3, head back to the outside area in the center of the map and go through the east door (just east of secret #1). Drop down and head towards the lion switch, where you will find an opening leading to the secret exit. (sector 170)
