E4M3: Secret Chapel is the third map in the fourth episode of Doom: Damnation. It was designed by Ofisil and uses the music track "In Utero". The par time defined in the DEHACKED lump is 1:40.

Most of the enemies in this level are hidden inside closets which open when you approach certain items. Monster-only teleport lines are placed throughout the level, so be wary of ambushes.

Head straight forward and collect the supercharge at the back of the chapel if you need it (which will release monsters from a closet by the starting point) then go through the west doorway and head down two sets of steps to a room with a blood stream. Head straight across the river to enter a passage leading to a marble column, which will rise as you approach to reveal a skull switch; press it, then return to the chapel where the north wall has opened to reveal demons and shotgun guys. Go through this wall and head east into a torch-lit tunnel, press the skull switch on the north wall then return to the chapel and go through the east doorway to enter a passage containing a rocket launcher. Head through the south doorway and follow the passage behind it east until you pass through some brown vines, then continue east and north until you see a dark tunnel on your right leading to another marble column. Approach the column and it will open to reveal a skull switch which you need to press.

Return to the blood river on the west side of the level, step into it and head west and north until you reach a set of bars. There are doors to the left and right of these bars - go through either door and head north up the steps, where some imps are guarding a chamber containing various weapons and supplies. Press the skull switch in this chamber to open the surrounding walls and reveal a crowd of monsters overhead; escape from the chamber then return to the chapel and head through the north walls again. Head east through the torch-lit passage and climb the stairs to a large cross-shaped hall, then head north up another staircase to confront two barons of Hell. Go past the barons to a passage blocked by bars and press the lion switch in front of them to finish the level.

Other points of interest[edit]

After pressing the skull switch on the east side of the level, head west to find a dead-end chamber with a partial invisibility.

Search behind the central column in the cross-shaped hall to find an invulnerability (replaced with a supercharge on Ultra-Violence and Nightmare skill levels).


  1. Head west from the chapel, then south all the way. In this room, the column in front of you will rise up. Ignore the column and look for skull eyes at the east wall. Shoot them, then head back to the area with blood and go to the north-east corner to find an armor. (sector 118)
  2. Head to the hall east of the chapel, then a bit south. Press on the wall that does not have slime to find a berserk pack. (sector 283)
