E4M5: Diabolico is the fifth map of episode Thy Flesh Consumed in Doom the Way id Did: The Lost Episodes. It was designed by Megasphere.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

Kill the approaching zombies then go through the marble archway to the north and open the door ahead to enter a wooden room. Take the eastern path and go round a corner to see a lava pit ahead, then continue east to get back outside where several monsters are guarding an armor. Climb up the steps in the south-east corner to a red ledge and follow it west to an eye switch, then press this switch to lower it and reveal an area with a nukage river guarded by imps, spectres, lost souls and one or two barons of Hell. The blue skull key is on a gray platform by the east wall.

After taking the blue key, flip the switch that is revealed on the north wall to lower the eye switch you pressed earlier so you can escape, then go back to the wooden room and open the north door to enter a flesh room with another armor. Approach the armor to lower three walls and reveal demons and imps along with a cacodemon, then enter the north compartment and press the eye switch to lower it, revealing a room with some zombies and imps. Go through the eastern corridor and destroy the lost souls and cacodemon waiting in the next room, then press the lion switch in the south-west corner to lower the platform behind you holding the yellow skull key.

Go back to the flesh room and enter the west compartment, then go south into a yellow hallway that leads to a blue key door. Go through the door, then continue north through another door and look left to see one or two cacodemons; you need to drop into the blood pit behind them, but first you should go through the northern door to find some imps guarding a radiation shielding suit that you should collect. Drop into the blood and press the button in the south-west corner, then activate the lift in the south-east corner to get out of the blood and face a demon along with some zombiemen. Continue east through a door to find a rocket launcher; from here you can return to the wooden room, where a wall in the north-east corner has lowered to reveal two cacodemons. Press the skull switch behind these monsters to open it, letting you reach the yellow door.

Go through the yellow door and head north, then east down some steps to a small room with pillars - the red skull key is in this room, hidden behind bars. Continue north to a room with lava, destroy the lost souls here then walk east into the neighboring room to see the exit door; do not go to it yet as you cannot reach it. Instead, go south into a courtyard and kill any waiting monsters, then climb up the wooden steps to a skull switch that will lower the lift on the east side of the courtyard. Ride the lift up and step on the blue pad in front of you to go down to the floor below, kill any waiting demons then press the skull switch on the east wall before using the nearby teleporter to go back to the exit room. Return to the red key room, kill the waiting imps and collect the key, then go back to the lava room and open the south door to find another skull switch; pressing this switch raises steps up to the exit door, letting you reach the exit teleporter behind it.

Other points of interest[edit]

In the northern room with the lava, go to the north-east corner to find a radiation suit. After taking it, enter the tunnel on the west side of the lava and follow it all the way to a partial invisibility. (The lava is highly damaging so you may still be injured, even with the radiation suit.)

Secrets[edit]

Official[edit]

  1. Enter the building and press on the square wall at the west side to find a chainsaw, armor bonuses and a medikit. (sector 28)
  2. Head east from the first room of the building and enter the courtyard, which will make a lift lower. Backtrack to the first room and enter the area on the west side that opens, with armor bonuses and stimpacks inside. (sector 172) Open the wall that does not have skulls to find an energy cell pack and a switch.
  3. Use the switch in secret #2, then leave the building through the main entrance and get to the east side of the building. Through the open door, you will find a box of rockets and a megaarmor. (sector 176)
  4. After you get the blue key, return to the courtyard and enter the east closet. Head south and around, hopping over the lava hole (do not fall in as there is no way out), then fall into the next hole to get a medikit and a plasma gun. (sector 138)
  5. After entering the blue key courtyard, return to the previous courtyard and head back west to the lava pit. Drop in and go east and north to a new room. Open the wooden wall in the south-east corner to find a box of shotgun shells and a stimpack. (sector 91)
  6. Open the wall east of the rocket launcher platform and follow the armor bonuses to a lift leading to a medikit, a box of rockets, and an energy cell pack. (sector 265)
  7. In the blood room at the west side of the map, enter the south-west room which will lower the eastern ledge with a box of rockets and two barons (only one on Hey Not Too Rough or lower). Open the south wall on this lowered ledge to find ammo and health bonuses. (sector 232)
  8. In the room north-east of the western blood room with the radiation suit in the alcove, use the gargoyle switch at the east side to find a medikit and a lift leading up to a backpack. (sector 248)
  9. In the north-west part of the map, use the wall between the red pillars to find a hole leading to a supercharge. (sector 120)
  10. Press the red button in the south-west blood room and head back to the wooden room. Head into the marble area which is now open and press on the wall south of the switch that is misaligned to get a box of rockets. (sector 165)

Non-official[edit]

  • In the eastern-most room with the moving pentagram floor, open the north wall to find a computer area map and four armor bonuses. (sector 296)
