Walkthrough[edit]

Map of Fear
Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.

Essentials[edit]

You begin in the courtyard in the center of the map. Open the door ahead and take the shotgun from the dead marine, then go through another door in front of you. In the next room, there are two satyr switches located to the east and west; pressing one or both of them will lower the metal blocks near the starting point. Go back there and enter the northern corridor, then go to the east end and face south to see a narrow ledge, which you can walk along to reach the yellow skull key.

With the yellow key, go back to the corridor and open the north-east or north-west doors. Follow the hallway round to its north end to find two exit doors, then enter either door and flip the switch behind them to end the level.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Once in the large circular room in the south, go through the door to the west and continue right up the stairs. After passing through the next door, turn around and open the differently textured wall just left of it. Inside is a berserk pack. (sector 53)
  2. Open the wall directly across from the exit switch to get a backpack. (sector 234)

Bugs[edit]

There are 25 uncategorized anomalies in this level's REJECT table.

It is possible to get stuck without being able to die or exit the level by straferunning or rocket jumping into the pool of water next to the chaingun.

Notes[edit]

In multiplayer games it is possible to get stuck in the cage located at the centre of the southern egg-shaped area. This is because the switch to lower the cage walls is blocked by a short green pillar decoration that only appears in multiplayer. The only way for the stuck player to get out of the cage is to die and respawn elsewhere or if another player lowers the cage walls from outside of the cage.
