E5M5: Science Facility is the fifth map of the Base Instinct episode in Doom the Way id Did: The Lost Episodes. It was designed by Jon Vail (40oz) and uses the music track "Demons on the Prey". The par time defined in MAPINFO is 2:45.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

Enter the hallway to your right (east) and follow it to a room with lost souls, then continue east into a second hallway and follow it north to a gray room with a cacodemon. Step on the lift on the east side to go down to the floor below, kill any waiting monsters then continue east and south to a yellow door that is guarded by a cacodemon (or baron of Hell on Hurt Me Plenty (HMP) skill level or higher) - the exit is behind this door. Enter the tunnel west of this door and follow it to a water pool guarded by lost souls and one or two cacodemons. Press the skull switch at the back of the room to lower the pillar holding the blue skull key.

Go back to the starting point then head north into an outdoor area with a couple of demons. Continue north and look for a blue door in the west wall, open it then continue west into the next room, passing one or more demons/spectres, and step around the brown column here to find a blood pool containing the yellow skull key. Now go back to the yellow door in the south-east corner of the map and go through it to face several imps along with two barons, then enter the alcove in the north-east corner and press the switch inside it. This will open the marble wall at the south end of the room, revealing a demon (or cacodemon on HMP or higher) guarding the exit button.

Other points of interest[edit]

The room at the north-east end of the map contains a computer area map.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Head east from the start and into the nukage. Open the wall with the poison sign to find an energy cell pack and a medikit. (sector 91) Follow the armor bonuses to reach a backpack.
  2. At the east end of the map, just before the marble caves at the south-east end, shoot the two barrels and open the wall behind them to find health bonuses and a plasma gun. (sector 54)
  3. At the north end of the map with the chaingun, head to the north-east corner and open the wall. At the end of the corridor, open the west wall to head outside to a megaarmor. (sector 117)
