Essentials[edit]

Go through the door and walk straight forward to a pit containing a dragon claw, which is guarded by fire gargoyles and one or two ophidians, then walk through the waterfall in the north-east corner to enter a square room with more gargoyles. Head south and east along an icy passage to a bridge guarded by one or two weredragons, then cross the bridge to find an iron lich guarding a door; behind the door and directly ahead you will see the red key on a ledge ahead, but there is no way to reach it at this point. Use the lift south of the door and kill any waiting undead warriors then go round the corner to another lift, which goes up to a chamber with sabreclaws and a firemace. Use the firemace to push the voodoo dolls you can see through the north and east windows so they teleport to the plinth that held the firemace (make sure they do not telefrag each other), then press the switch on the west wall – pods will start to flow down the river and into the red key room. Go back to that room and wait for the pods to accumulate, then step across them like stepping stones to get the key.

Taking the key releases some disciples of D'Sparil behind you. Go back to the bridge and open either of the red doors on the west side to face a weredragon, take the Tome of Power then approach the switch on the north wall to go down to a river (the switch does nothing when pressed). Follow the river north to the central chamber, where some disciples are guarding an enchanted shield, then enter the middle tunnel on the south side of the chamber to find a hellstaff and a switch. Press the switch then return to the central chamber and climb up the stairs on the east side, ready to face an ophidian (or lich on hard skill levels that blocks your way halfway up. Head north through a set of bars that have opened, kill any waiting undead warriors then press the switch on the north-west wall to open two sets of bars on the west side of the central chamber that are blocking lifts. Return to the central chamber and use the now-open lifts to get to the western platform, which has two doors marked "pool" and "waterslide".

Approach the doors to trigger an ambush by two weredragons (or one or two liches on medium and hard skill levels), then go through the waterslide door and ride the lift behind it to find an ophidian/lich along with a silver shield. Ride the slide down to a square chamber at the very bottom, kill a weredragon/lich in the center then press the switch it was guarding before continuing south down the stream. Once you land in the pool, kill some ophidians and undead warriors then climb out and use the lift to the east to get back to the central chamber. Enter the right-hand tunnel on the north side and go east at the end, which will bring you to a square room, then go through the eastern door and follow the path to a stone hall; note the compartment with the pod generator that opens behind you as you will need it shortly. After clearing the hall of enemies and collecting the items, push the pods into the pit at the south end of the hall and use them as stepping stones to reach the switch on the other side. After pressing the switch, kill the maulotaur that is released behind you then return to the square room and head west through two tunnels to reach a second square room. Go through the western door and head down some steps to another river, then open the gray door on the other side of the river and kill any disciples waiting in the next room, then push the pods at either end of the river into the center to form a bridge to the next door. Go through this door to get outside and find one or two liches guarding the green key.

Return to the central chamber, where two to four liches have appeared, then enter the tunnel in the middle of the north side to find a phoenix rod and a switch. Press the switch to open another set of bars on the eastern staircase, then go up those stairs and kill one or two liches that appear before opening the green door to find a golem ghost and another switch. Approach the switch to change the ice underneath the "test of water" into flowing water, then run across that water to leap into the octagonal hub where some ophidians are waiting; stay away from the drain in the center as it is inescapable. As with previous levels, you need to find four blue switches and press them all to clear the path to the blue key.

  • From the hub, head north then west into an ice cavern that has a single, narrow path running through it. You need to carefully follow the path to reach the first blue switch at the other end; it is recommended to walk along the path rather than run. There is a teleporter just under the switch you can use to get back to the cavern entrance quickly.
  • Next, enter the neighboring room to the east to see a water pool with a voodoo doll, a mystic urn and an enchanted shield. As you move towards the north end of the room you will open eight lifts that each have a switch above them, which must be activated in sequence to reach the second blue switch; more monsters will be released as you step on the lifts. The first lift at the south end of the room lowers when you go to the north end of the room, then the sequence is north-west, east, south-west, north-east, west, south-east and north.
  • Return to the hub and head east into a cave with a large water pool, which is overlooked by a couple of weredragons. There are several pods running around the outside of the pool; you must drop down to one and use it as a platform to reach the east side of the cave, where you will find an inferno orb and the third blue switch.
  • Finally, return to the hub and go south, where some fast-flowing water will take you down to two more switches. Press the southern switch first to raise a bridge to the blue key, then press the northern switch to clear the final set of barrels blocking your path to it.

With the blue key, open the locked door in front of you then go back to the central chamber where two maulotaurs have appeared. Head north to either square room and open the green doors here, then continue north to an ophidian guarding a blue door, go through the door then follow the river north to the level exit. On medium skill level the exit is guarded by a lich, and on hard it will be guarded by another maulotaur.

Secrets[edit]

  1. In the room with the dragon claw, jump to the wall above it and open it. The switch column after it will reveal alcoves with a Morph Ovum, shadowsphere, and Tome of Power. (sector 31)
  2. Run into the central chamber and run through the north waterway. Quickly enter the teleporter before it closes to teleport to a Chaos Device and a shadowsphere. (sector 684) You must use the Chaos Device to leave the secret.
  3. Run into the central chamber and run through the south waterway. Quickly enter the teleporter before it closes to teleport to a Chaos Device and a map scroll. (sector 686) Again, you must use the Chaos Device to leave the secret.
  4. In the gray area at the east side, a switch is across the south gap. Flip it, and head to the depression that has the Tome of Power. After stepping on it, run north and then east to a secret room with a lich, a Ring of Invincibility, and two switches. You can lower inferno orbs and sabreclaws with the south switch. (sector 655)
  5. North of the large drain in the test of water, find the left of two ice pillars and use its north-west side to lower a Morph Ovum. (sector 568)
