Walkthrough[edit]

Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.

Essentials[edit]

You start on the stone path at the center of the map. Go north-west until you run into a marble wall, which will open four star-shaped teleporters to reveal cacodemons and lost souls, then enter the eastern teleporter to go to the south building. Follow the trail of armor bonuses in this room to find a lion switch at the north-west end next to a backpack, press it then return to the teleporter to get back outside, where the marble wall has lowered. Step past that wall and go to the north end of the stone path, then step into the northernmost star teleporter to go to the north-eastern building.

Take the left-hand opening in front of you to see a trail of candles and follow them, noting the imps and barons of Hell in the cage to your right, then go south at the end of the trail to find another baron protecting a lion switch. Press the switch to open another teleporter and open it to go back outside, where a red wall has lowered at the north-west end of the path to reveal a staircase. Go down the stairs to find the exit portal to E6M3: Twilight Desolation, which is guarded by a cyberdemon on Ultra-Violence and Nightmare skill levels that will teleport to the stone path. Note that if you fall into the lava on either side of the stairs, you will not be able to get out.

Secret exit[edit]

After opening the star teleporters, enter the south-western teleporter to go to the west building. Carefully walk around the ledge on the outside of the building until you reach a BFG9000, then look north to see a hollow red rock that is the exit to E6M9: Shattered Homecoming. You can reach the rock with a rocket jump, reminiscent of Doom's E3M6: Mt. Erebus. A precise strafejump will also work, preferably from the left side of the west building in order to avoid the cyberdemon's rockets.

Other points of interest[edit]

Enter the middle star teleporter to go to a platform with a light amplification visor.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Head south-east from the start and look through the window into the building. Look west and spot an evil eye through the tiny crack. Shoot it to enter the building and get the armor bonuses, supercharge, and box of shotgun shells. (sector 23)
  2. Get the plasma gun in secret #1 to the east. This secret closes after thirty seconds have passed in the level. (sector 159)
  3. Head north-west from the start to the marble wall to open the star teleporters. Enter the eastern teleporter to enter the south building in a different room. Head west and north to a stimpack, then look west and shoot the evil eye to open the south wall. This will have a chainsaw, a berserk pack or medikit depending on your skill level, a box of rockets or a rocket depending on your skill level, and an armor (not on Ultra-Violence or higher). (sector 36)
  4. Inside the west building, go to the north-west corner and look slightly south-west to spot a small crack with an evil eye. Shoot it and head east, taking the lift up. From here you can get an energy cell pack, stimpacks, a computer area map, and either an armor or megaarmor depending on your skill level. (sector 87)
  5. Head behind the west building and shoot the blue wall north-west of it to open a teleporter with a medikit and an armor bonus. (sector 150)
  6. In the east building, follow the candles to the south-east end and open the west wall to get rockets and a megaarmor. (sector 124)
  7. Continue on the path from secret #6 to the south-west end. Look south and shoot an evil eye, then head east and south to pick up shotgun shells, a box of rockets, and an energy cell pack. (sector 157)
