Faithless: Trilogy is a GZDoom-compatible 28-level megawad for Heretic created by James Paddock (Jimmy). A beta version saw release in October 2020, with its first release candidate seeing release in December 2024. It introduces three new weapons, many new enemies, as well as new items, taking many of these directly from Hexen. The soundtrack is almost entirely made of community-made tracks from the Raven MIDI Pack. The maps employ a system of progress through hubs, with large-scale designs and interconnected paths through a system of portals that allow travel between different locations. The story follows the player returning to the land of Parthoris, which is suddenly attacked by creatures from Cronos through a series of dark portals opening between the two worlds.

Faithless: Trilogy was awarded with a Cacoward in 2020.

Custom weapons[edit]

  • Jade wand:
A short sceptre. Its verdant shots pack significant punch—while they don't do much damage by themselves, they rip through enemies, allowing for multiple targets to be damaged through one shot.
    • Tomed effect: Fires two jade magic projectiles that home in on their target, plus a single spiked ball projectile that will home in on enemies and continuously rip through them before detonating.
    • Ammo denominations: jade fragment (5), jade ingot (15), jade core (30).
  • Justifier:
The staff wielded by D'Sparil himself. Fires bursts of ball lightning that deal area-of-effect damage which you are immune to. All varieties of disciple and chaos serpent, including D'Sparil, will be particularly susceptible to its wrath.
    • Tomed effect: Fires two bursts of purple magic that each summon a disciple that will do your bidding. While strong in numbers, these summoned disciples possess half normal health (150 hit points) and will disappear after a minute.
    • Ammo denominations: chaos rune (1), chaos sigil (5), chaos talisman (10).
  • Soulverge:
A legendary holy weapon scattered across the realm in three pieces due to its infamously destructive power. Will unleash a horde of vengeful holy spirits upon enemies, swiftly tearing even heavy congregations asunder. Uses 5 soul mana per shot.
    • Tomed effect: Fires a large ball of magic that itself fires out tracer rays on impact, identical to Doom's BFG9000. Uses 40 soul mana per shot.
    • Ammo denominations: soul mana (3), soul cube (6), soul container (12).

Custom items[edit]

Elixir vitae
A shimmering potion of emerald that revitalizes you for 50 extra health points over the course of 10 seconds. Good for sustained fights and/or when you are low on quartz flasks.
Miracle potion
A ewer of rejuvenating ruby liquid that will heal you by 100 health points, up to 200.
Emerald amulet
A useful trinket for venturing into hazardous terrain. When worn will protect you from poisonous elements, including slime and poison clouds, for 120 seconds.
Boots of the north
These enchanted boots protect you from the chill of winter, granting 75% resistance to ice damage. Will last for five minutes.
Flame shield
A sturdy aegis emblazoned with the visage of an angry deity. This shield protects you for 200 armor points and provides 75% resistance to all fire damage on top of 50% general protection.
Noxious spore
Throw these gaseous seeds on the ground to spawn a combustible pod which can then be remotely detonated via a weapon shot. Good for causing infighting.
Bouncing bomb
Use these portable projectiles akin to the firemace's powered shot to quickly lay enemies to ruin. A direct hit means instant death for non-boss monsters, and monsters caught in the blast range will also take a severe hit.
Bag of plenty
A satchel of magic that ensures your ammo reserves will never deplete. You may also use weapons for which you have zero ammunition while this item's effect lasts for its duration of 25 seconds.
Disc of Repulsion
Identical to the Hexen version.
Horn of conjuring
Similar to the Dark Servant, will summon a friendly maulotaur to do your bidding.
Phoenix essence
A potion of swirling, fiery spirit. When used, will spit a concentrated charge of fire at the enemy with the strength of a phoenix rod shot.
Wendigo's breath
A potion of deadly chilling liquid. When used, fires explosive balls of ice at the enemy, dealing freezing damage to the target and in a large radius.
Chest key
A small gold key that opens treasure chests. Almost always you will find each chest's key directly nearby.
Strongbox key
A rusted metal key that opens locked strongboxes. These containers may be much harder to find and/or hold mission-critical items.

Custom objects[edit]

The mod also uses two custom volcano variants: one has a reduced delay between the launch of fireballs, and the other, in addition to this, is also invisible.
