Our longstanding practice is not to rip images from other sites.  Not only are our own images more likely to complement the articles, they create less legal risk (because we have proof that the image's creator wanted us to use it).

I was able to determine that these aren't ripped shots, just taken using an emulator that named the screenshots after the ROM files, which have the URL they came from as part of the ROM file name. Deletion should not be necessary but I strongly recommend that we rename these files. --Quasar 03:28, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
Excellent find.  Attempting to summarize the IRC discussion, this definitely weights the situation toward keeping, given the rarity of such images and given that they are used as part of legit historical taxonomizing (like our vanilla alpha articles).  I agree with your view that the file names shouldn't include URLs or ROM titles — I'll be glad to fix that myself assuming this closes as keep.    Ryan W 16:37, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
IMO, a format such as Doom_32X_Prototype_19940906_000.png would work nicely. --Quasar 04:05, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

After waiting a week to see if other opinions surfaced, kept and renamed as above.  (I.e. the links in this thread are red, but the article is unaffected.)    Ryan W 16:51, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
