Hell carrier

The Hell carrier is a vehicular enemy unit in Doom: The Dark Ages. These large ships possess multiple weapons and must be engaged in battle using Serrat.

Tactical analysis

Eliminating a Hell carrier is a multi-step process. First, the Slayer must destroy one of the rows of cannons along the side of the carrier, which will expose its shield generator to incoming fire. Destroying this will then cause the carrier to crash. At this point, the Slayer must dismount Serrat to enter the Hell carrier, dispatching its crew until he can find and destroy its main engine.

Lore

Galleons of bone and sinew made from the remains of primordial beasts, the Hell carriers reflect an element from the ancient past of Hell. Demons work within the ships' lower decks, operating the engines which are powered by the continuing anguish of Hell's victims. Though once reduced to mere relics, Prince Ahzrak has resurrected them for the purpose of powering the massive portals needed to summon Hell Titans. These ships are on the front lines of the invasion of Argent D'Nur.

Trivia

• The description of the Hell carrier seems to relate these ships to the vessel which attacked the UAC base in TNT: Evilution, though it was described as being a much larger specimen of similar design.
