A Hell tank about to fire at the Doom Slayer.

The Hell tank is a vehicular enemy which occurs in Doom: The Dark Ages. They first appear in the Barrier Core level, but are first encountered as enemies during Siege - Part 1.

Tactical analysis[edit]

Hell tanks are stationary enemies, usually found at the back of the battlefield. They are armed with a large cannon that fires flaming, arrow-like projectiles. The tank may open fire from a considerable distance; its salvos normally consist of a Hell surge projectile, followed by a regular projectile and a second Hell surge projectile. Because parrying one projectile back at the tank is enough to destroy it, shooting it is a waste of ammunition in virtually every conceivable circumstance, although tanks can be destroyed with the Slayer's weapons if necessary.

Hell tanks also appear during the Atlan sections. They travel in large groups and fire their cannons at the player, but deal no damage and are easily destroyed by walking over them.

Lore[edit]

Prince Ahzrak's war priests are capable of forging the remains of Titans into weapons like the Hell tank. Sentient, the Hell tanks are unmanned, controlled via sorcery alone to stalk the battlefields.
