KEX 2 is a game engine framework and renderer created by Samuel Villarreal (Kaiser). It is an outgrowth and extension of library and rendering code written entirely by Kaiser from Doom64 EX. While a generic engine with no technological relationship to Doom, it is notable for becoming a partial basis for the Strife: Veteran Edition OpenGL hardware renderer.
Some utilities and rendering code from the KEX 2 code base are also used in James "Quasar" Haley's elib, which is utilized by several of his programs, including the Calico source port.
Other KEX 2 games[edit]
- Noctropolis (2015 re-release)
- Turok EX (beta versions only; later re-based on KEX 3 after acquisition by Nightdive Studios)
