Appearance[edit]
The Kreed is a corpulent figure with at least eight eyes who sits in a floating chair at all times, in contrast to other Maykrs who are thin and upright. Underneath the Kreed's shell are a number of larval organisms, which form noticeable bulges in the shell when they move.
Tactical analysis[edit]
The fight against Bishop Kreed is undertaken at the end of Resurrection, and consists of two phases. The Kreed can take a lot of damage in each stage, so be as aggressive as possible to build up his stun meter so you can get some glory strikes in.
Stage 1[edit]
In the first stage, Kreed can use the ring above his head to fire a stream of yellow orbs, three bombs which attempt to predict your movements, or a fast-moving green bolt that you can parry. Kreed can also summon a large orb that discharges lightning bolts; when it appears, throw the shield saw at it to destroy it and interrupt Kreed’s movements. Every so often Kreed will summon four Maykr drones that are annoying rather than dangerous, but can be targeted to top up your supplies.
When Kreed is at 66% health he will occasionally shield himself, move to the middle of the arena and begin sending spikes in all directions; these can be blocked, but be cautious about breaking your shield. At 50%, three rings will appear above Kreed’s head, allowing him to fire more yellow orbs. At 33% health, Kreed will also launch large yellow spheres in addition to spikes, which can be sidestepped. When Kreed is critically injured, perform an execution to kick him through the window.
Stage 2[edit]
In the second stage, Kreed removes his outer covering. He will begin inside his shield, and summon four yellow rotating walls that you need to avoid while you avoid his other attacks and wait for the shield to drop; the walls can also change direction without warning. Kreed can now fire green bolts from all three rings, and will summon six drones at a time rather than four. He also gains a new attack where he bombards the arena with yellow bolts that fall from the sky—look for the yellow rings on the ground and stay out of them to avoid being hurt. Use the same tactics as the first stage to wear Kreed down, then perform a second execution when he is critically injured to end the fight.
History[edit]
The Kreed is appointed to oversee the flow of Sentinel energy to Urdak just before the beginning of The Dark Ages, with orders from the Maykr Council to remain at his post even as the Sentinels' war with Hell escalates. With the agreement of King Novik, the Council also places the Doom Slayer in the Kreed's charge, feeling that the Slayer's newfound strength and power needs to be controlled. The Kreed rarely leaves his ship, communicating with the Sentinels through holograms or a Maykr device held by Commander Thira.
The Kreed frequently shows little to no regard for the Sentinels' plight—for example, when the village of Khalim comes under attack, the Kreed has to be reminded by his assistant that the village's loss would disrupt the flow of Sentinel energy before he agrees to deploy the Slayer. Later, at Hebeth, the Kreed dismisses the assistant's concerns about the trans-dimensional barrier and states that it does not work, then departs in his ship when it looks like the barrier core will explode. The Kreed is next seen at the siege of Teroth, where he initially hesitates when his attendants suggest deploying the Slayer to defend the city; however, when the Slayer sees the advancing horde and attempts to break out of his holding cell, the Kreed is forced to let him go.
Following the siege, Prince Ahzrak communicates with the Kreed through a possessed drone and tries to recruit him to his cause, planting the idea that the Kreed is alone and abandoned by the Khan Maykr. The Kreed initially responds by destroying the drone, but then uses the Slayer's tether to spy on Thira as she activates the Ancestral Forge; fearful that the Sentinels will use her Wraith power to overthrow the Maykrs, the Kreed relays his observations to Ahzrak, who concocts a plan with the Witch to bring Thira into the Cosmic Realm. The Kreed feigns the need to meet Thira at the Sentinel Command Station, where they are both pulled through a dimensional rift by a giant tentacle. The Maykr Church then contacts the Sentinels and asks that the Slayer travel into the Cosmic Realm and return both Thira and the Kreed to them, knowing that Novik cannot disobey their commands.
Under the Maykrs' direction, the Slayer releases the Old One from the prison beneath the Spire of Nerathul and rides it into the Cosmic Realm, where he loses the Kreed's life signal almost immediately. After the Slayer tracks Thira to the Temple of Lomarith and is subdued by her powers, the Kreed suggests to Ahzrak that the Slayer be killed, but Ahzrak knows the Slayer's nature and states that they need something "more permanent". The Kreed then returns to Argent D'Nur and tells Novik that there was a struggle involving the Slayer and Thira, but Novik does not believe this and concludes that the Kreed has betrayed them. After the Slayer escapes from Hell and returns to the mortal plane, he flies Serrat to the Kreed's ship to confront him—the Kreed puts up a fight but is unable to withstand the Slayer's power. In an attempt to save his life, he offers to lead the Slayer to Ahzrak, but the Slayer replies by cutting his torso in half with the shield saw, ending his life.
At the end of The Dark Ages, the Ministry disavows the Kreed's actions.

Trivia[edit]
- Bishop Kreed was voiced by Darin De Paul who also voiced Samuel Hayden and Samur Maykr.
- According to game director Hugo Martin, the mechanical worms and Kreed have a symbiotic relationship, with Kreed also feeding on them.[1]
- According to id Software artist Colin Geller, Kreed's ship was inspired by Darth Vader's exectutor-class star dreadnought [2] first seen in Empire Strikes Back and in return of Jedi. Also in early sketches of the Kreed's ship was more ego-driven design, which often incorporated his face on the ship itself.[3]
