LIGHTS (PlayStation lump)
The LIGHTS lump in the PlayStation version of Doom is a table of 256 32-bit binary little endian color values, stored in RGBA order. Each sector in the PlayStation port's map format contains a single byte field which serves as an index into this table to determine what special lighting, if any, that sector should have. Lighting of the contents of a sector with a non-zero light index is accomplished by modulating the selected RGB color with the ordinary PLAYPAL.
The following screenshots show some dramatic examples of application of the LIGHTS feature in PlayStation Doom.
