MAP01: Outskirts is the first map of Ashes 2063. It was designed by Vostyok and uses the music track "Wasteland" by John Weekley (PRIMEVAL). The par time defined in MAPINFO is 5:10.

Other points of interest[edit]


  1. As you go from the start, you will see a cage. Behind the cage, shoot the tanks to blow a hole in the wall. Head south, west, and north, then northeast to the wall you blew open to find junk and leather armor. (sector 95)
  2. Enter the store through the hole and use the register to open a nearby wall with a pump-action shotgun. (sector 220)
  3. In the manager's office, use the button on the manager's desk to lower the nearby bookshelf, collecting junk, a first aid kit, and light bullets. (sector 318)
  4. In the southwest room, shoot the vent open, then follow the path to the ledges above the central hall. Head left, hugging the wall all the way around to an open hole. Enter it to find food, junk, and a REGEN stim. (sector 332)
  5. In the southeast room, climb the ladder at the northeast end, then jump to the crates in the middle. Jump south to a room with junk and painkillers. (sector 387)

Inspiration and development[edit]

The level went through multiple iterations before the final layout was decided upon. The idea to add the ventilation shafts that cross several sectors was an early decision inspired by MAP01: Prelude to Damnation of Mordeth. Due to the circular nature of the map's progression, this allowed additional secrets to be hidden and optional routes taken in a diegetic manner.
