MAP01: Scar Gate is the first map in episode The Vulcan Abyss of Legacy of Rust. It was designed by Samuel Villarreal (Kaiser) and uses the music track "Welcome To Die" by Xaser Acheron.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

Open the door at the top of the steps to enter a lobby with zombies, then go down the stairs at the north end and press the button here to open the door opposite. Flip the switch behind the door to lower a lift, then take the chainsaw at the bottom and use it to kill any approaching demons before crossing the bridge and going through the door on the other side. In the next room, go through the door in the south-east corner and climb the stairs to another button, press it then return to the previous room to find that another set of stairs has risen on the south side. Climb these stairs to the top to find the red keycard at the top; taking it will open three monster closets with imps, zombies and demons, one of which is next to the key.

Go back down to the previous room and open the red door at the north end, then go through the hallway behind it to another door and go through to see a button. Press this button to open the doors on either side, then go down the steps to the portal area and climb up the inner staircase to a control panel. Press the panel to open the portal, kill any ghouls that emerge from it then head through the portal to enter Hell. On the other side, go east to a train car and flip the switch inside it to end the level.

Other points of interest[edit]

In the entrance lobby, go to the balcony on the east side and press the small button here to open the lab door. You can find an armor, armor bonuses, clips and stimpacks inside the lab.

Secrets[edit]

  1. As soon as the level starts, go through the door in front of you then walk west to an alcove with a berserk pack. (sector 252) The secret will permanently close 30 seconds after the level starts.
  2. After riding the lift down to the chainsaw, lower the brown wall next to the switch to find stairs leading up to a silver wall. (sector 233) Lower this wall to enter a water pool with health bonuses, a chaingun and a box of bullets.
  3. From the pool mentioned in secret #2, go to the south-east corner and open the green wall here to reveal a teleporter. (sector 243) The teleporter goes to the water pool on the other side of the bridge, which holds armor bonuses and a rocket launcher.
