MAP02 is the second map of Vae Victus. It was designed by Derek Braun (Dittohead) and uses the music track "Water World" by Robert Prince, from Duke Nukem 3D.

- In the south halls, open the left vent on the south wall south of the health bonuses to get a backpack. (sector 398)
- In the room with the super shotgun, shoot a barrel on the south wall and open the wall to get a chainsaw. (sector 714)
- Go to the lift north of the super shotgun room and take it down. While it is descending (or while it is rising should you decide to wait on it), run and jump north onto a small ledge with a UAC wall. Open this wall to get a soul sphere. (sector 738)
After teleporting into the west area, you walk south into a dimly lit room. Pressing the machine panel to the northwest opens a compartment with a medikit inside. This can be pressed twice, raising the compartment door higher than intended, revealing a missing texture (linedef 443) appearing as a flat bleed.
Though the text file included in the Vae Victus release states it is for limit-removing source ports, it is specifically designed for ZDoom and the game mechanic alterations this port applies by default. There are some issues when playing on other limit-removing engines, such as Doom 1.9 emulation in DSDA-Doom.
- Two monsters (things 226, 229) in a teleporter trap are stuck, making it impossible to score 100% kills outside of ZDoom (or GZDoom).
- The west button at the window (linedef 3460) has invisible triggers placed in front of it that block use attempts, unless the player is more careful with their position than usually required, standing close and with a due west angle towards the button.
