Essentials[edit]

Take the shotgun and kill the bazooka man ahead, then go towards the exit switch at the north end of the hall—a barrier will close on the switch as you approach it, and a door will close behind you to block the way back. Kill one or two demons that emerge from the neighboring room to the west, then go inside it and press the switch on the south wall to open the blocking doors in the starting hall, releasing spectres. Go through the doorway at the south end of the starting hall and kill a waiting pain elemental, then follow the walkway across the nukage to a door and open it to face more demons (plus a mancubus on Ultra-Violence and Nightmare skill levels). Go through the door at the south end of this room, then continue west through a second door and kill any waiting chaingunners, zombiemen and spectres along with a cacodemon. Climb the blue steps and head west to another door, kill the zombiemen waiting behind it then run over the platform holding the blue keycard to collect it and avoid a crusher trap placed above the key.

Go back to the starting hall and step through the middle doorway in the east wall, then open the blue door ahead to face some lost souls. Open the door on the east side of the room and kill any shotgun guys waiting behind it, then step on the red platform in the north-east corner to open a wall behind you and reveal a lever. Flip the lever to open the large metal block in the main room and reveal the yellow keycard, then pick it up to drop a cage around yourself and release one or two barons of Hell outside it. Kill the barons while you wait for the cage to open after 30 seconds, then go back to the starting hall and pass through the north-east doorway to find a yellow door that has a group of zombiemen behind it. Continue east through another door and kill any waiting chaingunners and bazooka men, then climb up the steps in the north-east corner—which will move up and down—and follow the ledge round to a gargoyle switch.

After pressing the switch, kill the chaingunners that have been released below then go back to the north-west chamber of the starting hall where a staircase has opened. Open the door at the very top of the stairs and kill the monsters that rise from the holes in the floor, then press the switch on the block nearest to the door to lower the east wall, revealing shotgun guys and another switch. Approach the switch to open the south-west wall, kill the demons waiting behind it then press the second switch to raise a set of steps in that compartment, letting you reach the teleporter to the red keycard. Leave the room and go down the steps to another door, pass through it and climb the steep steps in the next room to reach a red door. Kill one or two bazooka men and a baron waiting behind the red door, then press the gargoyle switch at the north end of the room to open the barrier in front of the exit switch. You can now return to the starting hall and press that switch to end the level.

Secrets[edit]

Official[edit]

  1. Open the damaged wall south of the yellow door to find four spectres guarding four stimpacks, a box of shotgun shells, a box of bullets, an energy cell pack, and a number of health bonuses. (sector 156)

Non-official[edit]

  • Open the skull wall in the south-west corner of the nukage pool to enter the south-western area of the map, which contains zombies, stimpacks, shotgun shells and clips.
  • Climbing on to the ledge in the north-east room will open a monster closet with chaingunners. Step through the false wall at the back of this closet to find a supercharge.

Bugs[edit]

In vanilla Doom, four items snap up through the ceiling and become unobtainable before the player can get to them:

The button that opens the yellow key cage has an invisible trigger line in front of it (linedef 615) that blocks use attempts until the player gets closer to the button than is usually necessary for a successful press.
