MAP03: Town Square is the third map of 1000 Line Community Project. It was designed by Philip Brown (Liberation) and uses the music track "Liquid" by Tom Mustaine, originally used in Hell To Pay and Perdition's Gate.

Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.


Take the shotgun in front of you if you need it then head north through a narrow wall opening to find some zombiemen and imps (plus a mancubus on Hurt Me Plenty skill level or higher) looking towards a central plinth. Go through the west door then turn right and follow the passage until you see a switch behind a water pool; approaching the switch will lower a platform behind you holding demons and a Hell knight. Throw the switch then head back to the door you used earlier to find that some bars have risen allowing you to get the red keycard. Taking the key will open two nearby walls revealing knights and zombiemen.

Go back to the switch and open the red barriers either side of the switch, then enter a narrow passage with rockets and turn right to get back to the plinth area; a wall will lower behind you revealing a baron of Hell, and one or two revenants will teleport in. Go through the north-east door in the plinth area to find a chaingun then throw the switch next to it to lower a lift on your right holding a demon. Ride the lift up to a room with imps, zombiemen and another baron then quickly head east to drop into an outdoor area with one or two mancubi. In the north-east corner of this area you will find two shotgun guys and an imp guarding the blue keycard.

From the blue key, head west to find a water pool being guarded by another mancubus then enter the water and open the blue barrier in the south wall - dropping down the hole behind the barrier will return you to the passage leading back to the plinth, which has risen to reveal an arch-vile. Open the east door and kill the shotgun guys and demons waiting behind it then go through and head east until you reach a tunnel blocked by a rock, then head south-west to a small door being guarded by a couple of imps. Open the door and kill the revenant in front of you then go forward to a switch that will open the blocked tunnel you saw earlier (watch out for a chaingunner waiting in ambush behind you). Head back to the tunnel and step through it to find two revenants and four imps guarding the exit door, then go through this door and flip the switch behind it to finish the level.

Other points of interest[edit]

A rocket launcher can be found in the north-west corner of the well area.
