MAP05: Tech Center is the fifth map of Doom 64 for Doom II. It was designed by Zoltán Sófalvi (Z86) and Brett Harrell (Mechadon), and uses the music track "The Imp's Song" from Doom by Robert Prince.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

You begin in the hub at the center of the map, surrounded by four doors and four staircases. Follow the south staircase to a door and open it to find nightmare imps guarding a chaingun and a button, press the button then go back to the hub and climb the west staircase to a now-open room. Kill the waiting shotgun guy (plus two Hell knights waiting to ambush you on Hurt Me Plenty skill level or higher) then open the southern door to get outside and follow the path north to some barrels. Shoot the barrels to kill some spectres and clear the way forward then enter the room ahead and look right to see two lost souls guarding a switch. Flip the switch to lower the nearby lift, ride it up and follow the walkway to a door that leads to a room with two imps. Flip the switch here then go back to the hub, open the north-eastern door and go down the steps to collect the yellow keycard.

Go through the south-east door at the hub, kill any waiting shotgun guys then use the lift at the south end of the room to reach the floor above—the red keycard is behind a set of bars here. Press the button next to the bars then return to the hub, go through the south-western door and kill some more shotgun guys who are guarding a tunnel entrance. This area consists of a number of square rooms separated by doors—go to the southernmost square room and press the button here to open the easternmost room, which contains lost souls, then press a second button in that room to open the door by the first button. Go through this door to enter a hallway with a series of crushers, run through and open the door at the end of the hallway to find another button, which will open the bars blocking the red key.

After getting the red key, return to the hub and open the north-west door to see some lost souls guarding a cage containing the blue keycard. Enter the cage through a hole in its west side to get the blue key, noting the crusher around it, and destroy some more lost souls that are released before going back to the hub. Go up the east staircase and open the blue door at the top then go through to a square room with imps. Press the skull switch in the north-west corner to open a teleporter in the opposite corner, enter it then go east through two doors to find a knight guarding a button. Press the button to open another door to the south, go through it (it will close behind you) to face some cacodemons then collect the rocket launcher to summon one or two revenants. Return to the teleporter to go back to the previous area, where two sets of bars have opened, then go through either set to find knights guarding the exit teleporter.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Head north from the hub to the shotgun, then use the wall to the west. You will find a box of rockets and a megaarmor. (sector 305)
  2. In the room past the yellow door, ride the lift up then get to the center of the room. Face west and shoot the monitor, which will make you rise on a small pillar. Face north and shoot the button, then face south and shoot a second button. This will remove the bars to the south-east, where you can get a supercharge. (sector 105)
