Essentials[edit]

You start off in an enclosure with a super shotgun, a chaingun, a backpack and a megaarmor, making you more than well equipped to handle this map's initial challenges. Press the switch in the centre to open all four doors around you, and step into the outer courtyard, where you'll need to fight various zombies. Take either of the two paths available to you to go underground, where several imps guard a switch that will lower a wall containing demons and spectres. In this cave, you can spot the exit, but it is locked for now, so grab the rocket launcher, press the red pentagram and go back outside.

The walls around the starting area will have collapsed now, revealing more ammunition, while walls to the south will have lowered to reveal a larger outdoors area. There are pain elementals here (up to six on hard) which can quickly overwhelm you if you're not careful, and past the river of nukage there is a spider mastermind which can be very dangerous if left unattended. Fortunately, the room also has a BFG9000, so if you charge in and use the ash columns as cover you should be able to vanquish all enemies pretty easily.

Next, pick up the radiation shielding suit and enter either of the two nukage-filled cave entrances. At the end of it you will see a yellow skull key, but picking it up reveals two arch-viles on the opposite end. You can press the switch behind the key to obtain 18 more rockets if you need them, but if you aren't able to kill them quickly enough it's more important to run for cover. Once they're no longer a threat, reach the yellow door, located past where the spider mastermind used to be, and open it to press a switch. This will cause some revenants to appear in the starting area, but also unlock the exit door you previously saw, where the final teleporter is guarded by either one or two barons of Hell, depending on the skill level.

Other points of interest[edit]

Secrets[edit]

  1. In the area with the spider mastermind and pain elementals, there is a small arrow that is faintly lit near the west wall. Use the wall near that this arrow points to to get a light amplification visor, an energy cell pack, and a box of rockets. (sector 35)
  2. Use the switch behind the yellow key to open up two light fixtures nearby with sixteen rockets. (sector 66)
  3. See Secret #2. (sector 67)
