MAP07: Showdown is the seventh map of the megawad Alien Vendetta. It was designed by Anders Johnsen and constructed with DETH v4.16B. It uses the music track "Intermission from DOOM" from Doom.

Description[edit]

This map does not play correctly with some source ports, e.g. PrBoom, by default. In the case of prboom, you must supply the -complevel 2 switch to enable 1.9 compatibility.

Essentials[edit]

Kill all of the mancubi in the arena to lower the northern bridge to the rest of the map. At this point there will be quite a lot of monsters. You have three things to do at this point:

  1. You need to kill all of the arachnotrons out here. Some of them are on the grassy floors, some are in cages, and some are in the moat. Killing all of them raises a bridge required for exiting.
  2. You need to enter the left-hand building of the level and press the switch inside. This opens one of the doors preventing you from exiting.
  3. Do the same thing as in 2. except on the right-hand side.

When you are done with those things, go back to the arena and take the teleporter. You should have a clear path south to the exit, where you will see a glimpse of the next level.

Other points of interest[edit]

In the southeastern sector of the moat, there is a security armor sitting in the narrow corner behind the arachnotron cage.

Secrets[edit]

  1. The doorway leading outside counts as secret. It is impossible to miss. (sector 10)
