MAP07 is the seventh and final map of Vae Victus. It was designed by Derek Braun (Dittohead) and uses a MIDI rendition of "Boss 1" by Kazunaka Yamane, from The Combatribes (sequenced by Stockman), as its music track.

There are no official secrets on this map.

Bugs[edit]

Though the text file included in the Vae Victus release states it is for limit-removing source ports, it is specifically designed for ZDoom, which by default comes with several gameplay mechanic changes. Notably, ZDoom allows the player to move below certain hanging corpses that would otherwise block the below area in other limit-removing ports, which is a significant benefit for this level where this situation is common.

  • Interestingly, two mancubi in the starting area are in a stuck position (at least initially) in ZDoom (or GZDoom), but they are not stuck when playing on Doom 1.9 emulation in DSDA-Doom.
  • When playing with software rendering accurate to the original engine, such as in DSDA-Doom, the sky textures at the exit switch noticeably render through the floor.

A multiplayer-only super shotgun (thing 61) and ditto chaingun (62) have no flags set for any of the three difficulty classes, so they do not actually appear in the level.
