MAP08: Evil Awaits is the eighth map of PSX Doom: The Forgotten Chapter. It was designed by Dant3 and uses the music track "".

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

Take the super shotgun in front of you and use it to kill the imps and zombies ahead, then climb the steps and head north into a tunnel that leads to a door. Go through the door to enter a cavern with a lava pit, then walk through the vine-covered doorway in the north-west corner and follow the passage to find one or two demons guarding the red skull key. Go back to the cavern and enter the passage in the north-east end, then follow the passage to a button and press it to raise a bridge over the lava—this will also open two closets behind you containing lost souls (plus demons on Hurt Me Plenty (HMP) skill level or higher). Return to the cavern and cross the bridge you just raised, use the lift on the other side to go up to a rocket launcher, then walk west through some more vines to see another door ahead.

Open the door to see a stone staircase ahead, climb up it to the ledge at the top, then press the button at the north end to lower the wall behind you and reveal some imps. Press the left-hand gargoyle switch on the east wall to lower a wall at the bottom of the staircase (the right-hand switch lowers the super shotgun in the middle of it), then go through that wall and follow the path north past a couple of Hell knights to a room with a water pool. Climb the stairs on the north side of the room and open the red door at the top, then go through and blow up the barrels in the next room to kill a waiting knight (or baron of Hell on HMP or higher), along with some revenants on the red rock to the north. Go through the small doorway on the east side of the room and follow the tunnel north to get the blue skull key.

Go back to the water pool and use the lift behind it to go up to a teleporter, which will send you to the blood pools on the west side of the map. Head north through the pools to reach a blue door, open it to reach a T-junction then go north and east to a gargoyle switch; you only need to approach the switch to continue the level, but pressing it lowers the plasma gun behind you as well as releasing some revenants. Go back to the teleporter to return to the water room, where a set of bars near the lift have dropped, then open the door behind them and follow the corridor to three red teleporters. Enter the west teleporter first to go to a ledge above the blood pools, press the skull switch to your right to raise a bridge, then cross the bridge and head north to a second skull switch that you also need to press. Return to the three teleporters and enter the north and east teleporters to go to two more switches, which will open another teleporter west of the T-junction, then go back there and collect a waiting megasphere before entering this teleporter.

After entering the final teleporter, follow the trail of boxes of rockets to a courtyard with a group of knights (or barons on HMP or higher), then collect the yellow skull key they were guarding and press the gargoyle switch behind it to open two enclosures with arachnotrons (or spiderdemons on HMP or higher). Enter both enclosures and press the skull switches inside them to lower the bars on the east side of the courtyard, then enter the white teleporter behind the bars to go to the stone stairs west of the lava cavern. Return to that cavern and head north to a yellow door next to a pit, press the button behind the door to raise a bridge then cross it and open the door on the other side to find the exit button.
