MAP08: Minimal House is the eighth map of Claustrophobia 1024 2. It was designed by Walter Confalonieri (daimon) and Joonas Äijälä (Jodwin), and uses a remixed MIDI rendition of the Super Robot Wars theme, sequenced by knight of doom, as its music track.

Turn right and open the door in front of you to enter a lounge with a couple of shotgun guys, then walk north through a second door and drop down the hole to land in the central courtyard. Kill any waiting imps and shotgun guys then climb up the steep steps in the north-east corner and open another door to enter an elevator. Kill the waiting demon then press the unlit gargoyle switch to go up to the floor above, open the door and kill three shotgun guys along with a chaingunner, then go west through another door to enter a room with a switch. Press the switch, go back to the elevator and press the lit gargoyle switch to go back down, then leave the elevator and look east to see that the yellow skull key has been revealed.

Press the skull switch next to the yellow key to raise a bridge over the hole you dropped down earlier, then go back to the starting point and open the yellow key door here to find a staircase leading down to the red skull key; note the shotgun guys, chaingunner and imps that appear in the courtyard ahead. Retrace your steps to the elevator and ride it up again, then head west into the room you visited earlier and open the red key door here to find a skull switch guarded by two imps (or a Hell knight on Ultra-Violence (UV) and Nightmare (NM) skill levels. Press the switch then go back down to the courtyard and climb the staircase to two doors. The left-hand door is open, so climb the stairs behind it and kill a waiting chaingunner then open the south-east door to find a lost soul guarding a skull switch.

Pressing the switch allows you to get the blue skull key, but also causes demons and imps to teleport to the courtyard. Go back to the elevator and ride it up, then enter the room to the west again to find that a hole has appeared in the south-east corner which you can drop down to get the blue key. Press the skull switch here to raise a lift behind you leading back up to the room, where two imps (or revenants on UV and NM) have appeared, then go back down to the courtyard and climb the west staircase again to open the locked door at the top. Dispose of two waiting chaingunners (and a baron of Hell on UV and NM) then use the metal lift at the north end to go up to another door, which you can open to find a super shotgun along with a lion switch. Press the lion switch then go back to the courtyard, where an arch-vile has teleported in, and head east through an open doorway to leave the house and end the level.

Other points of interest[edit]

In the south-west room, open the north door to enter a bathroom. A berserk pack is inside the bath.


  1. Open the door to the right of your starting point and enter the next room. Press on the face to the right of the TV set to lower the wall and gain access to a secret balcony where you can find a shotgun and two piles of shotgun shells. (sector 3)
  2. In the north-east room, enter the alcove to the south-east. The floor will lower like a lift, taking you down to an armor. (sector 144)
