MAP08: Roscinante (Crimson Canyon)

MAP08: Roscinante is the eighth map of Crimson Canyon. It was designed by Jeffrey Graham and uses an untitled music track by Rachel Schmitz (Negatronica).

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

Open the door to find a shotgun guy waiting at a junction, then open the left-hand (west) door to see a corridor with more zombies. Go through the door at the west end of the corridor to see a ledge with rockets ahead, then flip the switch at the end of the ledge to open a door to your right, which leads to a room with many black columns. Walk between the columns to reach a lift in the south-west corner, killing any zombies that rise from the floor, then ride the lift down and kill an imp waiting at the bottom. Go through another door then run north past some shotgun guys (and lost souls on Hurt Me Plenty skill level or higher) to reach a room with a plasma gun and a button, kill any demons that teleport next to you, then press the button to open a door leading back to the column room. Use the lift at the east end of the corridor to go up to the blue keycard.

Go back to the first corridor and open the blue door to enter the reactor room, which contains arachnotrons and Hell knights, then open any of the doors on the east side to enter a radioactive hallway and walk up to the switch at the north end (you do not need to flip it). Return to the reactor room and pass through the now-open north door to enter another corridor, open the door at the west end to face some zombies, then flip the switch on the north wall to open the teleporter next to it which leads to the storage area. Go to the east side of the storage area to face a spiderdemon, then go through the doorway behind it and climb up the steps to the red keycard; going through the doorway causes a number of knights and barons of Hell to teleport in, and the spiderdemon can help you kill them if it is left alive.

Go to the lift behind the crates on the west side of the storage area and press the nearby button to lower it, then ride the lift up and look south to see a switch requiring the red key, which will reopen the teleporter leading back to the rest of the level. Go back to the second corridor and open the red door at the east end to face one or two imps, then open the north door to find a revenant guarding the exit door.

Secrets[edit]

  1. In the room before the blue keycard, look at the floor to see a square light with an arrow. Open the wall that the arrow is pointing at to find a backpack, a box of bullets, and a box of shotgun shells. (sector 405)
  2. Press the button next to the blue key, then go back to the first corridor and pass through the south-eastern door. An alcove with a megasphere has opened here. (sector 325)
  3. In the crate room, step across the crates to reach the south-eastern platform with the mancubus and super shotgun. You can open the brown wall here to find a dark tunnel with rockets and lost souls, which provides an alternate route to the red key. (sector 381) Open the two walls with square panels in this tunnel to get a rocket launcher and partial invisibility.
  4. In the storage area, follow the walkway round to its east side and look at the east wall to see a section with a damaged panel. You can open the panel east of this section to reveal a supercharge. (sector 417)
