Essentials[edit]

Blue key[edit]

Step backwards to collect a berserk pack then push the button in front of you to lower the floor, dropping you into a hub with imps, shotgun guys and a demon. The blue keycard can be seen on a pole in the south-west corner of the hub - go through either of the large doorways behind it and head down some blue steps to a button then press it to lower the steps revealing a couple of revenants. Enter a room with some brightly-lit windows and open the small doors on either side to confront some imps, shotgun guys and a mancubus who are guarding two sets of bars.

There are buttons in the alcoves at either end of the hallway, but you cannot press both of them quickly enough to get through the bars before they close; instead, press one of the buttons then run to the other alcove where a monster closet containing a chaingunner/revenant has opened. Go inside that closet and let it close behind you, wait one second then open the alcove again and press the button again - this will give you enough time to get through the bars before they close. Take the super shotgun then press the button on your left to open a nearby alcove with a chaingunner and a teleporter - the teleporter will send you back to the blue key which has now lowered, but watch out for imps, revenants and Hell knights that teleport in to defend it.

Red key[edit]

On the west side of the hub is a yellow key door that leads to the exit, and opposite it is a button that will lower two walls in the north-east and south-east corners. Go through the blue key door behind the south wall to face a couple of pain elementals along with other monsters that teleport in. Head east to a tunnel with a rocket launcher and continue going forward to the next room, ready to face an arch-vile waiting in a closet ahead, then turn right to go outside and confront two arachnotrons as well as imps and cacodemons. Follow the path round to the next room and kill a mancubus waiting at the north end, then step on the lift it was guarding and press the west button to go down to a nukage valley with two more mancubi (plus an arachnotron on Hurt Me Plenty (HMP) skill level or higher).

Grab a radiation shielding suit sitting behind these enemies then follow the valley south and west to the very end, where you will see a mancubus guarding a curved staircase. Go up the stairs and kill an arch-vile that teleports in, push a button at the top of the stairs then go back through the valley to where you found the radiation suit; the large door here has opened to reveal cacodemons, zombies and a pain elemental guarding a button that will lower a lift behind you. Ride the lift up to a corridor with demons and imps, then go down the steps ahead to confront an arachnotron. Overhead is a landing with a chaingunner - go up the steps to a red key door and press the button opposite it, which will lower a teleporter below that sends you to the floor above where knights and revenants are waiting. Follow the path west past a mancubus until you reach some curved steps, go up to a room with revenants then climb the stairs and press a button waiting at the top - this will lower the red keycard in the hub below, but will also allow imps, revenants and knights to teleport in.

Yellow key and exit[edit]

From the red key, go to the north-east corner of the hub to find a red key door and open it to face three cacodemons and a revenant, then enter the blue teleporter behind them to go to a room with an arch-vile; the yellow keycard sits on a pole in the middle of the room. When you try to open the east door, closets holding shotgun guys and knights will open behind you and a crowd of revenants, chaingunners and barons of Hell will be revealed in the neighboring room. Enter the south closet containing knights and press the button here to lower a lift, ride it up then follow the path east past some revenants and imps until you reach a berserk pack, then turn left and press a button directly ahead - this will lower the pole holding the yellow key, and allow an arch-vile to teleport next to it.

Step over the button you just pressed to drop down to a supercharge, turn around and press a second button behind you to open a door back to the hub, then open the door behind you to get back to the yellow key and pick it up. Go back to the hub and open the west door, ready for one or two arch-viles that teleport in, then press the button behind them to go down to a room where two chaingunners are protecting the exit button.

Other points of interest[edit]

On lower skill levels, additional items are placed around the map.

  • On HMP or lower, a megaarmor is placed on the blue steps behind the blue key, and a rocket launcher can be found in the room behind it. A plasma gun can be found on the U-shaped landing above the south side of the nukage valley.
  • On I'm Too Young To Die and Hey Not Too Rough, supercharges are placed in front of the two sets of bars that must be passed through to access the blue key, and behind the southern blue key door. A megasphere can be found in the southeastern-most room of the main building. A megaarmor and supercharge can also be found in the yellow key room.

Secrets[edit]

  1. In the south-west area, go to the north-west corner and press the button, then run south-east as fast as you can to the open monster closet. Press on the metal panel in this compartment, the one with the electricity symbol on it, to reveal another button. Press this button and head just north of the closet to find a secret area with a computer area map and a backpack. (sector 25)
  2. A hidden button in the far north-east corner of the map lowers a wall on the east side of the building, revealing a lift. Use this lift, then run across to the room on the other side. The teleporter here takes you to a balcony with shotgun guys (only on HMP or higher), a medikit, a megaarmor, a box of shotgun shells and an energy cell pack. (sector 149)
  3. The east side of the main building has a mancubus on a lift with some rockets and two medikits. The button here lowers the lift. Once you lower it, make your way back to the starting area and open the blue door on the north side. Jump into the nukage and there will be an opening to your left. Inside is a backpack and two stimpacks, along with a switch which serves as a shortcut up to the red key. (sector 198)
  4. At the south-west end of the big nukage valley outside the main building, climb the steps up to the button, but go around the backside of the button to find another button. The backside button opens a compartment in the room to the north with a plasma gun and a teleporter, which leads to the northern portion of the map. Get past the imps and mancubus here all the way to the invulnerability to reach this secret. (sector 369)
