MAP09: Blood Waves is the ninth map of Plutonia 1024: The Plutinya Experiment. It was designed by FullMoonDog, and the par time defined in MAPINFO is 4:30.

Move quickly as the level starts as imps, shotgun guys and a chaingunner can see you. Kill the shotgun guys then go through the door on your right to enter a square room with more shotgun guys and imps, along with a mancubus and baron of Hell on Hurt Me Plenty (HMP) skill level or higher. Grab the super shotgun by the north wall and pass through the door next to it, turn right to kill a chaingunner (or revenant on HMP or higher) then go to the end of the walkway and run north to confront some more zombies, including a shotgun guy/chaingunner through a window - after killing it, shoot the skull switch behind it.

Fight your way back to the starting point, killing some revenants (and an arch-vile on Ultra-Violence and Nightmare) that have appeared in the square room on your way, then look north to see that a door has opened revealing some enemies. Run through this door and flip the switch on your right, then make your way back to the walkway north of the square room where two chaingunners and two revenants have teleported in. Another door has opened to the west across a wide gap - make a running jump over the gap and kill a chaingunner (or Hell knight on HMP or higher) that appears in front of you, then turn right to find some steps leading up to the yellow skull key. Watch out for a window opening to reveal two more chaingunners, and an arch-vile teleporting to the floor below as you take the key.

Go back to the square room and head down the steps, then look in the south-west corner for a skull switch that will open the yellow bars just above it. Go through these bars and follow the path east, watching out for two or three chaingunners that appear through the fences on your right, then press the skull switch at the end of the path to raise a bridge on the north side of the square room. Cross the bridge and (on HMP or higher) kill a revenant that appears at point-blank range, then press the skull switch to open the exit. Go outside and kill a revenant and arch-vile that have teleported in, then return to the north-west corner of the map to find some lost souls guarding the exit teleporter.

Other points of interest[edit]

After flipping the switch inside the north-west building, go into the blood trench on the north side of the map and follow this west and south. A door at the end of the trench has opened revealing a box of shotgun shells, and a supercharge on HMP or lower.
