Essentials[edit]

Exit the airlock and go down the black steps in front of you until you find a chaingunner guarding a rocket launcher, then head east past some zombies and imps until you reach a pillar with a beating heart on it. Go through the opening next to the pillar and go up the stairs to find the yellow skull key, then go back outside and kill the cacodemons that have been released before following the path west past a plasma gun to a yellow door. Go through the door to enter an arena with five marble blocks, kill the approaching demons then press the skull switch at the north end to open a second switch on the west side. Ignore the barons of Hell that are released from the blocks for now and press the second switch to reveal a third switch on the east side; this will also release a cyberdemon which can fight the barons for you along with some arachnotrons that teleport in.

Press the third switch to lower the metal wall at the south end, then use the lift behind this wall to go up to a blue door. Kill the zombies in the passage next to the door, follow it west to find a Hell knight waiting around the corner (on Hurt Me Plenty (HMP) skill level or higher) then go north through some narrow tunnels until you reach a box of bullets; note the demons and spectres that are released behind you at this point. Continue west and north through another passage with zombies until you arrive at a ledge with one or two mancubi, then look left to see the blue skull key. Take the key and step through the flame wall behind it to teleport to the blue door; note the zombies that have been released to your right.

Pass through the door to enter a red hall, then go to the switch on the west side of the hall to lower the marble walls behind you, revealing imps and a knight (or knights and a baron on HMP or higher). Kill these enemies then flip the switch to open the door on the opposite side for a few seconds, then pass through that door before it closes to get the red skull key. Use the key to open the south door and step across the platforms floating in the lava in front of you to reach the exit door.

Other points of interest[edit]

Secrets[edit]

  1. From the rocket launcher near the start, go down two steps and look at the south wall to see that part of it is recessed. Open this section to get a BFG9000. (sector 297)
  2. In the passage leading to the blue key, when you reach the box of bullets and open the closet behind you containing demons, open the door next to the bullets to enter a square room with lost souls and a pain elemental. Open the misaligned section of the west wall to find a megaarmor. (sector 292)
  3. Flipping the switch to open the red key will also open a room with a megasphere next to the blue door for a few seconds. (sector 489)
