MAP09: The Lift is the ninth map of Into Sandy's Cities. It was designed by GermanPeter.

Walkthrough[edit]
Essentials[edit]
In the starting area, there are various former humans. Walking around the room will open monster closets in the central structure, revealing more former humans, imps, a demon, and a heavy weapon dude. There is also a shotgun near the starting alcove. Kill them all, then take the only exit from this room. Kill the imps on the lift, which is the central focus of the level.
The face on the left raises the lift one level, and the one on the right lowers it all the way to the bottom. Take the lift up twice, then go down a corridor with more imps, and a super shotgun. Go back to the lift, and lower it using the face on the right, all the way to the bottom. Watch out for the demons and crushers in this area, and traverse it carefully. There are armor bonuses, sets of four shotgun shells, imps, and spectres also scattered around. Your end goal is the red keycard. At the back of the maze is a teleporter that takes you to the lift. Go up to the red door, and open it.
There are a couple imps on a platform across the way. You have to pull the switch that is to the right as you enter, and run across the lowering platforms to the hole at the end. Go toward the brown door, where you can see the blue key. Going towards it will teleport you to the top of the room, with lots of lowering platforms with imps on them. Walking onto a platform will cause it to lower, so be careful. Get the blue keycard, then take the other door.
There are a large number of zombiemen and shotgun guys directly in front of you, kill them, and the imps on the platforms, then go right. Press the switch here, then go down to find that some switches have risen. The left switch in a set raises its corresponding platform, while the one on the right lowers it all the way. If you set them up right, you can run across them to get an energy cell pack, a rocket launcher, a box of rockets, and a soul sphere.
Go back to the lift, then back to the blue door, and go through it. There are some shotgun guys here, and a mancubus. Kill them, then lower the yellow key via the switch on the side, but beware that this will release many cacodemons. If you have the rocket launcher, use it with the boxes of rockets in this area, and the partial invisibility, to kill them easily. When you start to head back, a wall has opened up with multiple revenants inside. Kill them, then go back to the starting area, where the central structure has lowered to reveal an arachnotron and another soul sphere. Open the exit door, then pull the switch to exit the level.
Other points of interest[edit]
Secrets[edit]
- In the southwest maze of crushers, head to the middle of the south end and go north to get a megasphere. (sector 52)
- Take the lift up to the highest point and head east. Open the north wall to find a passage with two crushers and an energy cell pack. (sector 121)
- At the end of secret #2, press the switch and step on the platform with the BFG9000 to ride up. Cross the platforms to the north to get a megasphere. (sector 119)
- In the room with the pillars that lower as you cross them, enter the nukage below and take the west path to a backpack and a megaarmor. (sector 117)
- In the northwest room, raise and lower the platforms so that you make a path to the south ledge, which has a soul sphere. (sector 88)
- At the east side, the two blocks have switches on them to lower them. These blocks boxes of rockets, a medikit, and partial invisibility. (sector 81)
