Walkthrough[edit]
Essentials[edit]
On entering this level you will be given a chainsaw, chaingun, rocket launcher, plasma gun and BFG9000. This level includes red and yellow skull keys, but due to a mapping error (see Bugs), the level can be completed without the yellow key.
Take the rocket launcher in front of you and use it to kill the two Hell knights (or barons of Hell on Hurt Me Plenty (HMP) skill level or higher) on the bridge ahead, then cross the bridge and follow the corridor north and west until you reach a BFG9000 and megasphere—along the way you will pass a red door that leads to the exit. Drop down the hole to land in a room with nightmare spectres, arachnotrons and barons (or a cyberdemon on HMP or higher), then climb on the platform in the south-east corner to get the red skull key. Now climb the steps in the south-west corner and go through the doorway ahead, then follow the hall past some more demons to find a teleporter back to the starting point.
Open the western door to find some rockets in a blood pool, then go west to a super shotgun and open the door ahead to enter a room with a blood river. Deal with the approaching demons then go to the teleporter in the north-west corner to be sent to a cage with another demon. Collect the yellow skull key in front of the portal then press the gargoyle switch to lower another teleporter, then fight off the imps (and revenants on HMP or higher) that emerge from the portal before using the portal to return to the blood river. Push past the imps that have been released on your way back to the starting point, then return to the red door you passed earlier and open it to find the exit teleporter, which is surrounded by yellow bars that you can now open.
Other points of interest[edit]
Secrets[edit]
- Go to the bridge north of the start to find two columns. Lower the closest one to get a supercharge (only on Ultra-Violence or Nightmare). (sector 69)
Bugs[edit]
The yellow bars around the exit teleporter do not require a key to open, allowing much of the level to be skipped and making the yellow key redundant.
